Question about Cars & Trucks
I have a 460 Ford it won't start when no fire when let it sparks sometimes. Any sugestions? I have never had this happen before work on them for years and this is a frist
Possibly a bad connection on the crank sensor, or fogged sensor? remove and clean. Sensor Should get a read 1.5 ohms and a ac voltage of 0.5 volts on cranking.

try checking you Park/Neutral safety switch. if that's faulty it will do exactly what you are saying and while you're at it test the ignition switch but i'm leaning towards the safety switch

you didn't say if you have the straight 6 or v 6.But i'll give the order for both.
The 4.9L straight 6 is 1-5-3-6-2-4----------- distributor rotor turning clockwise, and #1 plug is the first plug.
On the 3.0 and 4.2 V6 engines is 1-4-2-5-3-6-------#1 plug is the first plug on driver side---- facing engine.

could be many things , but fuel and fire are a good sign. check the ESC, and that you have a full 12vdc in the vehicle, then check that all cyl have fire, poss bad coil pack
