SOURCE: Can't find the blower motor resistor on a 1998

I dont believe that is a resistor controlled circuit. I think it is a transistor controlled circuit mounted on the firewall cdcneter area.
you can have slow air inside but no high speed air if the module is defective.

SOURCE: 98 buick lesable blower motor stop working?

Automatic climate control uses a temperature sensor to detect cabin temp. I would look at that circuit for the problem, as it may be getting erratic readings from the sensor to the control unit, causes the blower to become confused to the air temperature in the car. You could probably find the entire climate control unit in a salvage yard to swap it out for a low price.

SOURCE: blower motor does not work

I had the same problem, replace, replace, replace. Check, check and recheck. What I found was the blower motor resistor, located in the blower squirrel cage area, two prongs and a curly wire, was bad. Took the new one back, (it ohmed out okay, continuity ok, all ok!) replaced it with another, and Bingo, problem solved. Frustrating to say the least. After two relays and a blower switch, and test, test and retest. It was a faulty resistor. Made in Mexico. And no guarentee, even though new, it works. Trial and error. Even the dealer parts are Honcho en Mexico. Thanks NAFTA. You gonna make us all welfare babies.

Blower motor resistor hot and not working?

Have the amps the blower motor is pulling tested. Sounds like a bad motor pulling too much power, or possibly shorted to ground.

2002 grand caravan blower motor intermittent replaced resistor

in review
the fan speed resistor is new
you bench tested the blower motor
12 volts test ..only runs it at full speed
if cabin filer want changed the blower motor would run hotter

could be the motor brushes or bush/motor bearing when slowed
you might want to inspect the brushes and clean the dust out of the motor
if no better
does that have climate control ?
might be the fan switch itself or the earth isnt so good

It's the resistor. You can replace the part for around $40 or repair the part for around $2. Prevent the part from failing again be refurbishing your blower motor. Here are two videos showing you how to accomplish this...

The blower motor resistor may be the cause of it not working. They cost roughly $12. Here is a video on how to replace them:

I would try to isolate the blower motor power connection, disconnecting anything from the motor and jumpering 12V DC directly into it to see if it will run when power is applied. That would rule out a bad motor. These are good places to start.

On the 98 Explorer the resistor is attached to the blower motor or the evaporator casing. In order to get to it remove the blower motor.Be very careful not to damage the blower wheel.Take the wire connector off ,then remove the 2 screws holding the resistor to the blower or evaporator casing to the right of the blower motor.

Low & Med speed on A/C and heater not working, only high. Were is the blower at.

This problem is related to faulty blower motor resistor. The resistor is the part which controls the blower motor to work on required speeds. But if resistor fails then motor will work normally but will not work on selected speed like slow and medium .In this case replacing the resistor should help. Easy replacement, the resistor is located right behind the glove box. Drop the door on the glovebox and you can see it.Its fitted with screws, remove those screws and disconnect the resistor wiring harness from the main motor.Take care, before disconnecting wiring harness note down its connection and before removing resistor note down its placement.o while fitting new resistor you dont face any fitting and connection problem. -------------- This should help.Thank you.Helpmech.

Blower Not Working In Speeds 1 to 3

Try to locate blower motor wires, usually up under dash on passenger side, maybe behind glove box, and follow wires from motor and they will usually connect to housing area, and real good chance that connection is your resistor pack if held on by screws or small bolts. Other place that you may find resistor is opposite side of firewall from blower, under hood. Look for connection at firewall, usually on passenger side.
