Question about 2006 Toyota Avalon XLS

1 Answer

Inadequate reverse lights.

Factory reverse lights are useless in illuminating rear of car at night. I replaced factory bulbs with 50 Lumen LED bulbs at a cost of $8.99 each + shipping. Negligible improvement. The same company has 400 lumen LED bulbs at a cost of $21.95 each. I don't mind paying the extra $43.90 + shipping if it works, but I don't want to waste any more of my money. Has anyone else had this issue and, if so, have you been able to resolve it? How? Thanks.

Yes this has been a problem since reverse was invented... it's called trial and error.

SOURCE: tail lights and reverse lights out.

Check the bulbs for the tail/brake lights. If you put in single filament bulbs it will be on from the tail light voltage and the brakes will not show.
Try this;
Turn off the lights, press the brake pedal. Look at the brightness of the brake lights.
Now turn on the lights. Look at the brightness of the lights. If is the same as before the bulbs are wrong. You need two filament bulb.

I'm surprised if it's so good at braking that it has not ripped my entire tire tread off as technicians say the treat is separating well before its time!

Replace the drl moduler

this might not be much of an answer,, But why do you think your DRL is ,gone,,, Do you have HIDS? led tail lights or after market bulbs anywhere in you running lights system, such as turn signals front or rear marker lights corner lights etc, if you do have Hids or leds,, and you didn't put in resistors in line with the lower wattage led bulbs you car can throw the drl light, like turn it on., and with daytime running lights you will short out the hids, since they are not meant to run at say 4 volts like the factory non hid ones that are dim when the running lights are on.... I don't know if my answer will help you but I hope it does.. good luck

Gday mate, we had a problem with another late model vehicle similar to that, the bulb that was put into the reverse light was not exact brand product ( ohmage was slightly wrong ) and fowled up computer, correct bulb in place and disconnect battery to reset K A M ( keep alive memory) problem solved, BEWARE, some vehicles cannot have KAM reset except for dealer computer tethered reboot , just try putting the factory correct bulb(s) in and see how it goes, geoff. hope this helped.

Parking light bulb Toyota TAV

inside the rear compartment there is a triangular shaped panel on the left and right side near the rear door
open the read door and look between the back of the compartment beween there and the rear wheel arch.
open this panel and look inside toward the rear of the vehicle
you will see the back of the tail lights.
depending on model the reverse light is the lower one.
grip and turn the plastic housing about 90° to the left to remove.
remove the bulb by depressing the bulb and turing to the left and release.
warning: do this with a cloth or glove as the bulb may be damaged and break in your hand.
replace with simular rated bulb and reverse the dismantle procedure.

LED bulbs are also available, they are bright and give off little heat and last much longer than conventional bulbs.

NOTE: ensure that the use of LED bulbs are allowed by traffic law in your country.

I need to replace the driver's side headlight bulb on my 1999 pontiac sunfire. do i have to remove the battery to get to the bulb?

Unless the engine compartment in your '99 is drastically different from my '96, I disagree. I've changed both of my lamps and the battery didn't have to come out. You just have to take the headlights loose to gain access to the rear of them. The lamp holder just unscrews and pops right out. If nothing else, pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual for your car. It has exacting instructions on how to change the lamp.
For what it's worth, If your headlights are hazed over like many older cars, don't buy the exact factory replacement lamp. It' won't be bright enough. Buy a higher lumen bulb.

How do I change the bulb 2004 infiniti high mount bake light?

Unfortunately, these are not very simple. If you have a factory high mount brake light-meaning not one in a spoiler, you have to remove the rear seats, the rear parcel shelf and then the 3rd brake light. the 3rd brake light I believe is an LED setup which get replaced as an assembly which inserts into the housing. If you need further guidance let me know.

Thanks,

Brian
