Your car is equipped with a system called PASSKEY standard on all GM cars and light trucks, try the following procedure to reset the system, the battery being dead will trigger the system.
PASSKEY LOCKOUT RESET GM CARS 1999 UP
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the passlock system to recognize your key.

well it has passlock two and this is common with these cars. never seen the other issue to accompany it but if you do a relearn of the key and it starts then it could be two different issue's but if it don't work then they are related.
a relearn of the key is done with the ebrake up to keep the day time running lights off ( not an issue for you) but do it anyway. put key in the ignition and turn it to the on postion right before crank for 10 sec. turn it off for 10 sec. then turn it back on for 10 mins. repeat two more times back off for 10 sec. and then back on for 10 mins. it is cruishle you try to keep with in the times or very close. 10 seconds and 10 minuites three times and that will relearn the key and if it starts then you may have two issue's but hard to tell with out testing. but i think this is the best thing you can do for now.
i have a customer that can't afford the passlock module and labor so i taught her this and she is better then me now at it. lol... but like i said very common issue. let me know if you have any more question. good luck

simplest solution is to clean the throttle body intake with intake cleaneer. they are noted for this issue.
this is especially annoing when it sits for a few minutes when warm.
if it does this when cold you have a fuel pressure issue. try changing the gas filter first. if this doesn't cure it you may have a fuel pump issue. your mechanic can determine this for about 100 bucks by doing a "fuel pressure" test.
failing this the next step would be electrical and even though there may not be warning lights therre should be a stored code to identify the issue.

SOURCE: my car motor was seized
Feel free to ask more questions on this thread, so next time you will not have to pay again. I will assist you until you are happy with your final answer. This problem may also be a crank sensor, the crank sensor will not allow the car to start if it is bad, and these are known to go out in these motors. When this sensor is bad it will cause a misfire, it will also cause the car to run and die suddenly. I'm pretty sure by the way you are explaining things that your security system has a major role in this. In GM cars the security system will not let the fuel pump prime if the security module is activated. I would take the negative battery cable off the battery over night and charge the battery. This will also reset your ECM. Does your key have a little "pill" on the thicker end of the key that goes into the ignition. If this is gone/broken/not working this will also cause the car to not start. Feel free to ask more questions and we will all try to assist you until you are satisfied.
