Depending on the year, not all models have the passenger airbag on/off switch, it was optional equipment. If your child weighs under a certain amount the sensors will automatically switch the airbag off, or on. (I sell Ford's)

Turn taurus air bag off

The airbag is a federally-required component of the vehicle. Most states require that the bags be installed and in good service condition. The only exceptions are for pickup trucks that may require the need to install a car seat in the front passenger side. They may have a switch to disable the passenger airbag under these conditions. Other vehicles have a seat sensor that detects the amount of weight on the front passenger seat and will automatically disable the airbag when there is no one in the seat or if the person in the seat is under a certain weight, indicating that they may be injured by the activation of the airbag. Otherwise, it is unwise, and in many jurisdictions, *******, to disable an airbag. Thus, although there may be ways to do it, you probably won't get any help here as we are bound to terms of service on this site, as well as that we don't want or need the potential legal liability issues that such information could bring down upon us.

Airbag off light repair

If the the air bag light is on in the instrument cluster, you have some sort of fault with the air bag system that should be diagnosed and fixed. Perhaps the weight sensors in the passenger seat are malfunctioning.

How to remove front passenger side seat

Always disable the air bag system first, to prevent accidental deployment of the air bags. The main airbag module is beneath carpeting under passengers seat. To remove passengers seat, At the rear of the seat remove the two bolts securing the tracks to the floor, tilt the seat up and towards the instrument panel, unplug any electrical connectors beneath and remove the seat. the front plastic track covers can remain in place while the seat track tabs are lifted out of the slots on the floor. ( caution disable airbag before removing the seat ) Good-Day! Hope this helps you!

I have 2010 Ford Taurus SHO seats. I believe they are 8 or 10 way memory seats. Trying to retrofit for a street rod. Have a few wiring diagrams but not enough. Can't get power to any motors yet. Numb

Problem Solved !!! I traced every wire, Bought manuals, Ended up buying a passenger seat wiring harness and removed driver memory control module plus harness. Installed new passenger harness and it works great ! You need VIN# when ordering part, Order number is slightly different then number on wire harness but when it came in numbers matched. Where is the passenger airbag on and off switch?

The passenger air bag is turned on or off with sensors in the passenger seat and the seat belt.
The sensors disable the passenger air bag if the seat is unocupied or if a car seat or booster chair is in use and installed properly.

2000 ford taurus- airbag code 36: What does it mean, and what does it cost to repair?

It means you have high resistance in the drivers or passengers side air bags... Heres the deal. check if the vehicle has side airbags usually noted on the side of the seats with the word air bag.. if there are no side air bags in the car than someone has put the wrong module in the vehicle. If it has side air bags go under the seats and check all electrical connectors to see if wires are broken or anything is unplugged. sometimes they unplug themselves from moving the seats or putting things under the seats.

1999 f150 airbag light stays on after blinking upon start up!

Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Switch
The passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) switch:
  • is located on the instrument panel to the right of the climate controls.
  • contains a light emitting diode (LED) that indicates when the PAD switch is activated (passenger air bag disabled).
  • allows the passenger air bag deployment circuit to be disabled using the ignition key.
  • should be used whenever a child safety seat is being used in the front passenger seating position.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prove Out the System
Prove out the system means to turn the ignition switch from the OFF to the RUN position and visually monitor the air bag indicator with the air bag modules installed. The air bag indicator will light continuously for approximately six seconds and then turn off. If an air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault is present, the air bag indicator will either:
  • fail to light.
  • remain lit continuously.
  • flash.
The flashing might not occur until approximately 30 seconds after the ignition switch has been turned from the OFF to the RUN position. This is the time required for the restraints control module (RCM) to complete the testing of the SRS. If the air bag indicator is inoperative and an SRS fault exists, a chime will sound in a pattern of five sets of five tone bursts. If this occurs, the air bag indicator will need to be repaired before diagnosis can continue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Active Commands
This command allows the technician to verify operation of the air bag indicator, passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) lamp and chime. When the air bag output command is executed, the indicator, the PAD lamp, chime and the chime are activated simultaneously for approximately four seconds. All devices are deactivated automatically.
