Check if the brake lights are working (with ignition on), There is a safety switch operated on the brake light circuit, so you can't take it out of park unless you have the foot brake pressed. Could be the brake light fuse.

How to unlock gear stuck in park mode in a mercedes c220 cdi auto

It sounds like you parked on an incline.the parking pawl is a bolt which is activated during park and if the car is allowed to roll against it ...I.e. If someone releases hand/ foot brake then it is very hard to release the park selection as it gets licked from normal free will need someone to rock or push the car towards the the incline to enable the pressure to release off the parking it's an automatic I believe you can't do this without the engine running....but I would actually try to release the park before starting car by the above method.

My c220 car will not start in park

The natural safety switch if defective.

This switch is part of the linkage and it give signal on the ECU which gear you're in + turn on reverse light when you are in reverse.

I will vacuum out selector area and move the lever back and fourth to free up the dirt and dust.

You may luck out or it's time from the shop.
