How do I flush the cooling system in a 2000 hyundai elantra?

There are several methods for flushing the cooling system on ALL engine cooling systems. Time honored is drain the radiator (drain ****). Fill with fresh water and run engine to operating temperature until cooling fans turn on. Drain cooling system again. Refill with 50-50 coolant. Another method is purchasing a "T" vlave (coolant flush/service kit) from Autozone, PepBoys, NAPA, O'Reilys, CarQuest, etc.). This "T" valve is installed in one of the heater hoses & attached to a garden hose. Remove the radiator cap & turn on the water supply to the garden hose. Let water run until flush water is 'clear'. Remove garden hose from T valve & refill radiator with pure coolant until the T valve drainage turns green/orange. Install T valve cap... DONE!

My Cruiser begins to overheat after 20 miles of me driving at least 50 MPH. Turning the heater on brings the temp down.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to check your fans. They may not be working correctly. Check your radiator also. Anytime you use the heater or a/c, the fans will automatically come on. This would explain the temp falling when you use the blower. Sounds like they are not coming on correctly which may be caused by a faulty coolant temperature sensor. It may be due to a bad wire or loose connection though. Check your coolant levels and make sure they are correct.

2000 hyundai accent runs good though, when it gets up to temp. the car shuts off ,when it gets cold again it starts right back up whats my problem has a new radiator in it

car shuts off when temp, gets to normal--- causes: low coolant, failing coolant temp. sensor, air in water pump, failed radiator fan, kinked heater hose, check the coolant temp. sensor first.

do a presue test after engine is at normal temp . check for any leaks but am sure you blew your head gasket long before you replaced the other parts

02 ford tauras heater won't heat. Hoses too and from heater core are ''piping hot''. Radiator was recentlly replaced, and is full of 50/50 anti freeze. Also heater motor works on Highest setting only....

The temp door actuator motor is not working on the blower box,the dash will have to be pulled out toward the seats to access the actuator motor.

2000 Hyundai Elantra Transmission problem

I don't know if I can help but as an owner of a Hyundai Elantra 2000 GLS with 205,000 miles and the original clutch and transmission I'll try and help!

I always start with the lowest cost solution first and avoid mechanics as much as possible!

Have you checked the trans fluid?
It should be changed every 30,000 miles!
Sometimes a Lucas Trans Fluid will cure - fix slippage!

Have you checked for a clutch adjustmet!
An adjustment can cure - fix slippage!

Are you a clutch rider with your foot always on the clutch?
If so you may have worn out the clutch!

How many miles to you have on your Hyundai Elantra 2000?

2000 Elantra Overheating

First when vehicle is cold like in the morning check and make sure that the vehicle has enough coolant/ antifreeze in radiator and reservoir. If coolant is need use a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze. You will need some time to do this let car run at idle until the temp guage is in the middle NOT+ normal operating temperature. At this point if the thermostat should be in the open position. Let vehicle run and check to make sure that radiator fan comes on. This should come on when guage is about midway/half way. If temperature rises above half going to h/hot and fan doesn't come on, you either have a BAD FAN BAD FAN SWITCH BAD FAN RELAY OR BLOWN FAN SWITCH FUSE. You will need to check all of the following I will help if its needed. If fan comes on and doesn't go off and vehicle continues to get hot even with fan running. Feel radiator hoses and see if the lower radiator hose is cool/cold. If it is you have thermostat that stuck closed. Replace thermostat and fix problem. If all the above is good and vehicle continues to over heat. THE BAD NEW IS THAT YOU MAY HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET /CRACKED HEAD /BROKEN WATER JACKET. Basically you will need a HEAD JOB at least a head gasket. ONe tell tail sign of this is oil looking like milkshake/chocolate milk-a creamish while residue in oil or antifreeze. Contact if you need hel0p. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA
