Normally the crank grinder would supply shells?
Any engine refurb shop would know where to get bearings. Go online to a non franchised LR dealer and see what they know.

Where is the location of the transmission dipstick on 2005 Land Rover Freelander?

As far as I know, there is none. My 2002 Freelander has a combined fill/level plug about halfway up the IRD unit (the back one) and a similar one on the gearbox. Put the car up on on lift or otherwise get underneath it with a torch to locate it. Fill (awkwardly) from the engine bay until oil pours out and, as long as the car is level, the oil level should be correct.

Car quit moving, but is still running.

is it a front wheel drive or rear wheel drive car ? if it is rear wheel drive it could be the driveline .. if its front wheel it probably is a cv joint they serve the same purpose and are both fairly in expensive to fix as long as they havent damaged other parts such as the yoke on the rear end .. send reply to i will try to help you with this DALE

Freelander Deisel,constant vibration,shudder.

remove drive shaft and all vcu components, take for a short drive ( car will still drive in 2 wheel mode, if vibration gone suspect could be vcu , if still felt at front suspect ird if still felt in rear check diff mounts then diff out put bearings and nose end play.

How to replace viscous assembly

i had a similar problem, my viscous coupling was knocking, when i looked it had broken away from the coupling, but was spinning round and knocking against the floor, i unbolted propshaft from rear, unbolted from the front, you need to use torx head socket. then unbolted middle brackets, (very heavy now, you will need some one else to help) and off it comes, i have been driving it now for 6 months with just front wheel drive.

Noisey freelander

Yes, the rear diff is fcuked. It is a common fault on these models. I have a 1.8 2000 model and have now removed the rear prop. This now gives me a perfectly quiet drive, more mpg and frankly not worth getting fixed unless you really need to have 4wd. It is very common for owners to do this. Apparantly after 2001 threy used different diffs (JATCO) which are more heavy duty and don't wear out as fast!

Wheel bearings

u will need access to a hydraulic press to remove the bearings and re-install them in the hub, other than that no.
