Turn off check engine light

You cant just turn check engine light off. You have to hook car up to a code reader or scan tool and read trouble codes. Repair trouble codes then erase codes and if problem was repaired check engine light will turn off.

My malfunction indicator light of my Toyota camry 2000 is blinking and the car cannot accelerate well. my mechanic seems not to understand the problem. what ca I do?

When you said "...indicator light blinking," I assume you mean "check engine" light is on. Procure a check engine code reader and download the trouble code. When you isolate which component the trouble code is talking about, ascertain its not a faulty sensor. Read the code reader instruction and look up "clear trouble code" to turn off the "check engine" light. Replace the sensor first and see if it stops sending the trouble code. If the sensor is still sending a trouble code (check engine lights up again), then replace the component which the sensor is monitoring.

Driving my car, stopped at a light, light turned green, started to go, would not let me drive faster than 27 MPH. Ideas?

The P0340 and P0344 are referring to the camshaft position sensor circuit. 0340 says the circuit is lost, and 0344 says the circuit is intermittent-when you had trouble, the circuit was not made, then it came back so you could drive normally. This must be why it won't rev up right, why you could only go 27 mph. Try unplugging and replugging that sensor. If problem continues, have a tech check it out-it is not the sensor but in the circuit-check the connector good for a problem. Has any moisture got into it, or any discolored pins or terminals inside the connector? Possible also there may be a bad wire there or going from there to the computer.
The other codes all refer to the evaporative system: 0440 is system malfunction, 0441 is evap. emission control system incorrect purge flow (from your charcoal canister to the intake manifold), and 0456 is EVAP leak monitor small leak detected.
For small leaks in the evaporative system, shops often resort to a smoke test-putting smoke into the system and watching for a leak. It could be anywhere on the car between the gas tank and the charcoal canister and the vacuum line or the purge to or from the engine. If you can find the charcoal canister you might check the purge line-the line from the canister to the intake manifold. Look for cracks or breaks in the rubber hose-flex and bend it to expose a leak. If you can't find it, you may need a shop's help-it won't affect driveability, that small leak, but it will always have the trouble codes until fixed, and it may cause your engine light to come on often.
Good luck.

Hey everyone. I have a '95 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.2, Manual trans. I've been a mechanic for 27 years and a member of Fixya for a couple. I've been over this darn truck from top to bottom and cannot find the...

On board diagnostic (OBD) was designed on vehicles equipped with electronic fuel injection so you can generally retrieve the codes yourself. No need buying a scanner or running to any parts stores to check the engine light. This system is called obd1 and applies to most vehicles made before 1995 for domestics and 1993 on imports.Dodge trucks have a diagnostic trouble code retrieval method, Unlike Gm and Ford trucks the Dodge line of trucks has no data port connector to gather codes from.Instead Dodge has a ignition cycle activation sequence that anyone can active by turning the ignition key on off in rapid succession five times with the cycle ending in the "on" position.
Once this activation has started the check engine light will start to flash. The first set of check engine light flashes will be the first digit of the two number code. After the check engine light pauses for a short time it will start to blink again starting the second digit identification and completing the code's second number. If additional trouble codes are stored in the computer the first digit will begin to flash, and then the second digit. For example: the check engine light flashes four times, pauses and then flashes three more times the code is 43

Check engine light vsc light and trac off light

VSC and TRAC lights will come on any time the check engine light does to reduce engine load. As such these lights being on may have nothing to do with the why the check engine light came on.

If the check engine light is on, a trouble code(s) has been stored in the computer that points to the problem area. The dealer should have read this code(s) to come up with what was wrong. Did the dealer give you a sheet with the trouble code number on it?

The engine may have variable valve timing, if it is not working the engine will revert back to a fail safe condition so that no damage will occur. But it will not be running a peak performance. Or it could be something with the engine timing system.

If you want to do your own checking, start calling autoparts stores to see if one will read the trouble codes for free, it is an easy job. AutoZone will read codes for free.

Hope this help.
