Start with a good tune up. fuel filter, air filter, plugs, cap rotor, and wires.make sure the plugs are the correct type. then clean the throttle body inlet, and add an additive to clean the fuel injectors.get a compression test on the engine to see if the cylinders are in balance.

Dodge dakota backfire

It sounds like you need a good tune-up, such as spark plugs and/or wires. They will act up when cold and when warmed by engine temperature will let the engine run smoothly again. And possibly a distributor cap/rotor.

2003 dodge intrepid taps loudly after warmup

your doing good if you have 245000 miles on it,the lifters or tappets loose there prime and flatten out it is not uncommon for dodge to do this.if the engine runs smooth leave it alone.other wise you would have to replace internal parts,u could try to put some tranny fluid in the engine before your next oil change ,only 1 quart though.dont run to long 15 to 20 minutes.if tap does not go away you probly have worn internal parts.not much u can do besides replace lifters, big job.

Every time you start the engine it will run but misfiring. Then switch off to stop engine then on again the key and wait for a few minutes before starting then engine runs smoothly.

sounds like moisture gettin in one or two cyls, pull the sparkplugs andcheck for a light color deposit, they should all be the same if not you found your problem

87 chevy 350 fuel injected pickup wont run smoothly. Will start fine when cold and run for a few minutes then will be rough idle before finally quitting. I have replaced the distrubuter, coil, plugs, plug...

sounds like your egr valve is gummed up or bad. this is located behind the throttle body and has a single vaccum tube connected to it. if the diafram is still good you can remove it and clean it with WD 40 until the plunger works smooth

55,000 miles. new battery. new air filter. original spark plugs. runs very smoothly after starting. engine started having to turn over more then about 2 weeks ago. idle speed is slower I noticed. on...

You may have sludge in the idle air bypass valve and or the throttle blade is sludged up, clean them with an approved spray cleaner, call honda and ask what they recommend. You may also have a loss of fuel press due to a defective check valve in the fuel pump, in that case cranking time is increased quite a bit, as much as 5 or 10 seconds.
