Question about 1987 Ford Econoline

Fuel Gauge doesn't work

The fuel gauge doesn't work on my Ford F350 Econoline Motorhome. It always reads empty. I checked all of the fuses that I could find and they are good. What else can I check and how do I access them?

You need to replace the fuel sending unit located in the fuel tank, there is the device that reads the fuel level (aka the floater) see if you can get a sending unit w/o the pump for cheaper!!

Fuel gauge doesn't work. checked fuses, didn't help

The issue may be the the in tank fuel gauge float. Over time these can corrode and/or get gummed up which would cause it to get stuck. Another issue maybe the wires running from the in-tank pump to the gauge cluster, if one of the wires has become loose or broken, this would cause the issue as well.

Fuel Gauge always on Empty

Unfortunately this sounds like a float sensor failure which is attached to the fuel sender assembly which can be pricey. They are electronic so it can fail. Check your owners manual to see if the gauge has its own fuse. Another possibility is the gauge its self could have failed.
