The sound goes away after either keeping my foot on accelerator or off completely. After just getting an oil change, they said I have build up on the throttle body. Can this be the cause of the faint noise...

Yes clean the throttle body with throttle body spray cleaner and an old tooth brush with a terry cloth. Take air intake hose off of the throttle body assembly open the throttle body, spray cleaner all around on the inside, use an old tooth brush to scrub the grime and wipe clean with a terry cloth. Repeat until cloth shows clean.

Holden astra 2002 2.2 l wont idle

check the iac valve its next to the throttle body.. i had a problem with mine that it would die when coming to a stop.. these cars are known to get oil into the throttle body aswell so i would suggest to remove the whole thing and clean the throttle butterfly with brake cleaner.. theres a small port inside the housing that is just under the butterfly clean that out with a toothpick or something small that will fit the hole,, hope this helps :)

Removed air intake hose to clean throttle body and noticed oil inside. Why???????????

The pcv valve vents the crankcase vapors into the intake to be burned. That vapor has oil in it and the oil will sometimes accumulate in the hose and throttle body. It's normal for all cars to have a bit of oil in there. Just needs to be cleaned out every so often.

Engines jumpy... time for new spark plugs?

Probably not. Depending on your mileage and driving style it is more likely an Idle Air Control valve, Mass Airflow Sensor or Throttle body. I would purchase CRC MAF Cleaner and CRC Throttle Body cleaner. you will need to disconnect the induction hose from the air filter and throttle body. On the Taurus the air filter is loated on driver side under hood. Trace back from it and mid way youwill find a plastic cylinder that is wired in with a plug. Unplug the MAF. Make sure and notate which side is facing the engine as the air flow has to be the right way. I put a dot on the side that should face inward to remember the flow direction. Find a ventilated area and take the CRC MAF cleaner and spray the inside of the Mass airflow from about an inch away. Be careful there are very fine wires inside that can be broken by the nozzle by touching or being too close when spraying. Spray liberally and then set aside to dry. Continuing up the intake you will find the throttle body whihc is a cirucular intake that is metalic It has a butterfly valve inside. Use the same CRC brand but this time us CRC Throttle body cleaner. DONT USE CARB CLEANER OR OTHER BRAND. Ford coats their Throttle bodies with teflon and any other brand can eat this lining away. Clean in short bursts. You can gently take a clean shop rag to wipe inside with your finger as sprayed to dislodge some of the dirt, but be gentle. Dont use stiff brushes.. A qtip, a soft bristle tooth brush with very light pressure. as well. Clean it very well. Place rag underneath to catch any run off. After its cleaned and teh MAF is cleaned, replace the air filter and reassemble the unit. The car will be hard to start at first. Turn it over a few times and it will start. It will sputter a bit and then should run better. The plugs on modern vehicles are set to run 100K miles or more before changing and unless you are burning oil and fouling them out they should be fine. Start with MAF and Throttle body first. then move to plugs..Finally, the MAF and Throttle body should be cleaned every other oil change.

In extreme cold starts but won't idle well needs to have high rpms to stay running til warm

Try cleaning the throttle body, Remove the intake hose that connects to the intake and air filter box. You will need a can of throttle body cleaner $6. and clean rag. Spray the cleaner in the throttle body and you will see black carbon build up running out of the throttle body. clean the butterfly, which is what opens/closes when the throttle is open or closed inside the throttle body. repeat 2-3 times and wipe it dry and clean with the cloth, be sure not to leave any material inside the throttle body. re-connect what you removed. It will be hard to start for a second, don't worry it's the cleaner. After start up let it run for a minute and test drive. Cheap fix on alot of vehicles.

What all do you need to do a tune up on a pontiac vibe 2004

Stuff like: fresh spark-plugs, air-filter,new engine-oil, oil-filter, fuel-filter, plug-wires, rotor/cap, ( some adjustments may be necessary to the throttle-body and the throttle-body and choke cleaner may need to be sprayed inside the throttle-body).

Why does my gas pedal stick while driving. 1995 isuzu rodeo. it happen when i try to accelerate. its worse when its cold.

The throttle-body (or throttle plate inside the throttle-body) is probably gunked-up with carbon deposits and needs a good cleaning.

Take the air snorkel off of the throttle body and look inside while holding the throttle plate open. If you have thick black deposits on the back side of the throttle plate, you can clean it by spraying some throttle body cleaner (Available at any parts store) onto a rag and using an old tooth brush to push the rag, clean all the black gunk out of the area.

I recommend an old tooth brush because using something hard like a screwdriver can scratch the inside of the aluminum throttle body and actually make the throttle stick worse. I don't recommend spraying the throttle body cleaner directly into the throttle body because it can end up in the air plenum where it may loosen some deposits that can cause severe engine damage.
