REPLACING FRONT HUB STUDS FOR A 98 HONDA PRELUDE

I need to replace the front hub studs for a 98 honda prelude. How do you remove the front hub after you remove the 36 mm hub nut from the hub? Do you need some kind of pully or should it just come right out?

To remove that hub you will destroy the bearing. Because you have to remove it with a slide hammer. It is not necessary to remove the hub to change the studs. Remove the caliper, caliper bridge and rotor. Using a hammer simply knock out the stud or studs you want to replace. Put new stud in and using a sleeve that has a bigger diameter than the stud (I use a big nut, like the one on the axle) put big nut over stud and screw lug nut on stud and tighten until head of stud is flush with hub. Re-install rotor, caliper bridge and caliper. Hope this helps.

remove wheel, brake assembly & rotor. rotate to where the broken stud is in the opening where the brake assembly was. drive the broken stud out of the hub flange. then install the new stud by stacking washers on the new stud and tighten the lug till it pulls the new studs flange tight against the back side of the hub. remove lug and washers , reassemble .

Need to know how to remove broken studs?

Your going to have to remove the hub bearing unit to replace the studs.
The studs are pressed fit, so your going to have to press it out backwards. Don't try to hamer the studs out, you may damage the Hub bearing and you might as well change the whole hub if that's the case.
Once you have the hub removed press fit the studs out backward and if you don't have a press fit, you could get away with a clamp and lot's of washer and a pipe for leverage.
To install the new studs, just follow in revers and press fit the new ones in place, it should take about 30 min to an hour to do. But take your time if you have not don this before.
Good luck and hope this helps, and if your have abs, make sure you line up your sensor before putting the wheels back on.

Can't take off my front rotors on my Prelude S 1994. There's a large four flange bolt that maybe holding it and I can't take it off.

Look between to of the lug studs and you should see a screw.Remove it and the rotor will slide right off.Stay away from the the center nut unless you are replacing the cv axle

Broke studs front hub 2000 prelude

Remove the wheel and the brake rotor, so that you can get a hand behind the hub flange where the stud is seated. You'll feel the head of the stud back there.

Use a socket extension or something similar, place it against the broken face of the stud, and hammer it out. It'll fall out behind the hub flange, and you can grab it and remove it (if it doesn't fall to the ground). Insert the new stud (available at a parts store for less than $3) into the flange from behind, and press it as hard as you can to get it seated in the splines. Then stack washers onto the stud on the outside, where you can see it, and tighten a lug nut onto the stud. Use your tire iron to tighten the lug nut on the stud - this will pull the stud into place. You may have to stop once or twice to add more washers onto the stud, but keep doing this until you can't tighten it any further and the length of the exposed section of the stud is even with the others. When all studs are replaced, reinstall your rotor and caliper, put the wheel back on (torque it with a torque wrench), and you're done.
