Really depends on its diagnosis..Anywhere fromm 300-1200 max...Dont pay anymore than 1200 for a used/ refurbish trannie...get one from a junk yard for about 250-400, then find a mechNIC TO install not a hard /labor intesive job...then pay him like 150-250 + his favorite 12 pack of beer:) good luck. Hope this was helpful to you !

Transmission hesitates going in drive. shifts fine, does not slip, full of oil. does not hesitate in reverse. 1995 mazda 626, auto. transmission, 4 cylinder, front wheel drive.

A common problem with Mazdas, it's a sign that the transmission is worn out. There is a seal on a hydraulic system that activates the clutch for Drive. When this seal wears out, it leaks and it takes longer for the clutch to engage. The only way to repair it is to take the transmission apart. You may be told to try flushing the the transmission, chances are this won't work. The seal needs to be replaced.

95 626 wont shift out of park

Your shift cable has broken. It is a costly item but the wire can be fixed if you find the right mechanic. My local transmission ship fixed it for 30 bucks.

1995 mazda 626, won't start i put it in park and it acts like its still in reverse and rolls back, also the gears read that it is in park and reverse what do i do

This sounds like a linkage adjustment that has slipped with time; shouldn't be costly to cure and because of the potential hazard, I hope your parking brake is good.
If you aren't a DIYer, check your local BBB pages to find an honest transmission shop so they don't 'fix' something that isn't broken.

95 mazda 626 automatic transmition....will not reverse

Check you transmission fluid level and if it's not your transmission, I'm thinking that your brake shoe lineing in the rear brakes may have separated and is jamming up aginst the drums when your trying to back up. Sorry can't halp you with any more, good luck and start with that and hope it help's.

Running hot when in traffic and traffic lights

I had that problem with my Mazda 626. It always felt like I had the heat on and the heat intensified at lights and when stopped. The heat is coming from the transmission, you'll need to get a transmission cooler added and that should take care of that problem, along with a future transmission malfunction.
