Hello I'm an M.B. tech, sorry I thought I sent this yesterday but it is not in my solution box. If your vehicle is actually blowing hot air and not just ambient ait through the vents the only reason this could be is that coolant is entering the heater core all the time. Mercedes had 2 ways of doing this from that era. The earlier version had a vacuum water valve against the rear firewall. The other version had an electric valve called a mono valve by the battery tray. I would think it would be very likley to knock of a vacuum line doing an oil change but most likley you would have other problems as well. The water valve had a red vac, line going to it. Your vehicle probably has the electrical valve which is ublikley to get damaged during an oil change. most likley the diaphram is ruptured. There are 4 slooted screws on top of the valve. If you remove those screws you will gain access to the insert(plunger for solonoid). Take the rubber seal and stretch it out. Take a close look for tiny tear in seal. It is a very common problem with the monovalve type system. You can replace just the insert and it saves alot of money as compared to the price of the monovalve. hope this is helpful.

How to remove a drive belt from my mercedes 560 sel 1989 I am trying to change my alternator belt, because it is broken and I need to remove the drive belt first

Not familiar with your Merc. This is general info. My porsche has a mecanical belt tensioner down low under the engine off the ground. Toyota has a spring charged piston pushing a belt tensioner wheel. Most other cars I've worked on had a pivoting alternator. If your car has a flat serpentive belt then it probaly has a spring loaded tensioner. If it has Vee belts then something sets the tension mechanically at install. Good luck!

1992 MB 400SE, A/C blow hot air by driver side and cold air passenger side vents

There is a valve to control the coolant to the heater core. You can identify this by looking at the hose connected to the coolant path. When it is bad it didn't close so hot coolant keeps flowing to your heater core when the AC is on causing hot air. It needs to be replace. Don't be fool by checking the resistance of the terminals since it may tell you the solenoid is still good. Why, since the valve is stuck inside, so even the solenoid is working but it could not pull the valve. Good luck.

A/c doesn't blow unless high speed

Its your blower motor. Check the strip fuse (30 amp) outside the fuse box in a tootsie roll sized clip case by the strut mounts. In between the fuse box and strut mount. If not you may need a regulator or new blower motor.
