Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Call 1888mitsu2001, choose option #4, then hit * (star). give the
operator the last 8 numbers in your vin and they will provide the radio
code for FREE!
DO NOT PAY FOR THE CODE ONLINE OR GO TO THE DEALER (they will also charge you).
- you will also need to provide the serial and part number of your radio (takes about 5 minutes to take apart an eclipse dash...1 screw in the bottom of the HVAC panel) if you call the 1888mitsu2001 it will provide basic instructions on how to accomplish this.
- if your radio says "off" (meaning you entered the wrong code too many times) you need to put your key in the ignition and turn it to ACC mode for approx. 45min - 1hr and then your radio will say "code" at which point you can enter the code to unlock the radio.

The radio code will have to come from the dealer they usually give you this info when you buy the car. if it has gotten lost you will have to go to the dealer with your vin # and purchase the code from them. sometimes is actually cheaper and a lot better to put an aftermarket stereo into the car.the code for your car will only work on your radio not anyone elses even if they have an identical car this is the anti theft feature makes it worthless if someone does steal it.

Your dealer will have that information

I had that problem on my 2001 Eclipse GT, and unfortantely I had to go through my dealer (and got ripped off), it was about $80 to just simply take my radio out, look at a number, type it into a computer for the code, and push 4 buttons to make my cd player work.
