Question about Cars & Trucks
New glow plugs, crankshaft sensor, idler & battery fitted to car in last 2 weeks. Starts perfectly well in warmer conditions but as soon as temperature drops car becomes extremely difficult to start and very often will not start at all. Mechanic thinks it might be fuel pressure issue. Hope not as the car is not worth fixing if the case!
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

most likely the relay. its located to the left of the fuel filter( looking at the motor from the front). my experience is that they only last about 50,000 miles. the part costs about $20 at an navistar dealer. remove the cowl over the filter, disconnect the batteries(so you don't short the new relay out if you cross the polarity with a wrench) ,remove the four wires from the ceramic relay, un-fasten the relay from the base. reverse the process with the new relay. CAUTION; do not over-tighten the nuts on the wire studs, you could crack the ceramic relay.(iv'e done it) . hope this helps

right renew the glow plug timer/relay if you put a meter on the glow plugs when cold and turn ign on (with help) it should supply power for a about 20 secs ,time depends on outside air temperature ,if all else fails then do a colin --- use a push button switch, wired to a relay so glow plugs can be operated by pushing the switch which you will mount on the dash ,cant beat a manual overide system
