Question about 1987 Jeep Grand eer

1 Answer

87 jeep wagoneer 4.0L 6Cil transmission won't move in drive

Doesn't seem to start out in drive (D) most of the time. If I put it into drive it seems to be starting from 3rd gear. I manually shift into L1 to start out fine then put it back to D, all gears shift ok (2,3,OD) the problem is only when i stop no 1st.

Kind of sounds like 1st gear might either be slipping out, or its not being recognized by the solenoid...does it wind out then catch with a boost?

My 99 dodge neon will shift into drive but won't

Bad girl, cursing at your favorite Neon! When did you service your transmission last? If the fluid is old and thick it messes up the F***in
pressures in the F***in transmission so it won't F***in shift. Get it checked out (curse the F***in mechanic who charges too F***in too much!)

Transmission is stuck in gear drive. The transmission lever no matter what gear you put it, is still in drive.

block the wheels and look under the jeep on the side of the transmission where the link is while someone plays with the shifter. does the cable and mechanism seem to move ? if not, the shifter cable is probably broken and will have to be changed. if it moves, your problem lies in the transmission.

I have a problem with my gear box i have a jeep grand cherokee

Your transmission apparently is not downshifting properly. From your description, it sounds as though it is in 2nd or 3rd gear, which is why it is slow to accelerate. When you shift into 1st, it is starting off in 1st gear as it should. You probably should have a transmission shop check it out. Check engine light on?
