Question about 2000 Volkswagen Beetle

Open Question

Nearside main bulb keeps blowing.

My nearside main bulb keeps blowing. I've had the beetle hooked up to the computer and shows no faults, I've even had genuine bulbs fitted. Its the 4th time in a month it has blown.

You have push top of large mirror is asif you were adjusting it to its highest position, then slide the mirror glass up and off, this in turn allows you access to the screws that hold the whole light unit in place which with the aid of some torx bits which are inside mirror casing you can remove. hope this makes sense.

Probably the lamp plug is corroded. Pull the bulb and look for white to greenish color. If it is black where the bulb makes contact, it is arcing. Try and bend the tabs closer together.

The brake light bulbs on my 2003 beetle 1.9tdi are fine but wont come on when the pedal is pressed. If i remove the offside bulb and put it back, it comes on until the ignition is turned over then goes out...

There's a brake light switch down on the top of your brake pedal. This switch actuates when you step on the pedal. If it goes bad you have brake lights all the time, or not at all.

Here's some instructions and photos (the instructions may be ridiculously offensive to some)

hi each h/light on car has its own fuse as does the offside and nearside side and tail lights also a seperate fuse is for the brake stop lights so if you check the fuse box and fuses you may find fault ? also if you check the underneath of panel cover you may find indication of each fuse and its amp rating and purpose ?
