Question about 2000 Ford Focus

I have a 200 ford focus that dies when I put vehicle in drive.

I check for the code because the check engine light was on, it had p0320, &p0113, I replaced the fuel pump, Fuel filter tune-up but the problem still persist. Any suggestions???

Intake Air Temperature IAT Circuit Low Input Indicates the sensor signal is less than Self-Test minimum. The IAT sensor minimum is 0.2 volts or 250f. Grounded circuit in harness Damaged sensor Improper harness connection Damaged PCM IAT V PID reading less than 0.2 volts with key ON and engine OFF or during any engine operating mode indicates a hard fault.
P0113 Misfire Detection Monitor The misfire detection monitor is designed to monitor engine misfire and identify the specific cylinder in which the misfire has occurred. Misfire is defined as lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, poor compression, or any other cause. Ignition system Fuel injectors Running out of fuel EVAP canister purge valve Fuel pressure Evaporative emission system Base engine The MIL will blink once per second when a misfire is detected severe enough to cause catalyst damage. If the MIL is on steady state, due to a misfire, this will indicate the threshold for emissions was exceeded and cause the vehicle to fail an inspection and maintenance tailpipe test.

Hello;
It sounds from your description that the fuel pump is weak. To check the fuel pressure you need a fuel pressure test gauge for fuel injection. Attach the gauge to the test port schrader valve and turn the ignition to the on position. Record the reading. Now start the engine and record that reading. Unplug the pressure regulator vacuum line and record the reading.
The pump should have pressure with in specs but if low, start with the installation of a new complete pump. It is located in the fuel tank. Also replace your fuel filter.

Are you sure that you need to replace the pump? I drive a 54 plate mk2 1.6 zetec that wouldn't always start and I was told it was the fuel pump in the tank but because the fault was intermitant I didn't have it fitted and found out that the car didn't start because the fuel lift pump wasn't priming the system before starting. I found that there was a faulty connection on the relay for the pump that is in the compartment under the glove compartment.

if you have a bad spark plug wire, it will draw condensation and make engine run rough.... you can check this by getting a spray bottle and filling it with water, spray a mist over top of the wires while the car is running, and if one is bad it will show.... (looks like little lightning coming off of wire) .... hope this helps

P0320 is a code that usually is due to faulty crank sensor, basically the crank sensor is monitored by the computer to adjust timing when driving vehicle, computer completely controls all timing advance and retarding at various points while driving, chances are your sensor is going bad and giving a inaccurate reading causing your engine to have huge lack of power due to improper timing.. May want to check circuits between computer and sensor to assure wiring is ok, does the temperature of the engine seem to make a difference in how it runs???

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0320 is defined by SAE J2012 as "Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit".

This DTC indicates that two or more successive eratic Profile Ignition Pulse (PIP) signals have occured. Possible causes are:
> Loose wires and/or connectors
> Short circuit to ground in the secondary ignition system (coils or wires)
> Incorrectly installed 2-way radio
> Faulty battery/charging system operation
> Interference from aftermarket accessories such as alarm systems and remote starters
The troubleshooting charts for this code are quite involved and lengthy. There are many possible variables that must be checked and verified. I do not recommend attempting to diagnose this on your own at home unless you have access to the proper testing equipment to do so. You will also need to subscribe to an information service such as alldatadiy.com so you will have access to the troubleshooting information for your vehicle.

Trouble code P0320 means: Ignition Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction

Crankshaft Speed sensor should be replaced.

p0171 is a lean condition for the right passenger side of the vehicle bank 1 on vehicles with rear wheel drive v6 or v8.

I have computer codes p0320 and po750 on my 2002 ZX5 focus can any one help me on what the mean


p0320 is Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction which could mean that the rpm(revolution per minute) sensor is bad or there is something wrong with the wiring.
p0750 is Shift Solenoid A Malfunction which means your solenoid that shifts your transmission into a lower or higher gear is no good. i would have it checked out by a mechanic. hope this helps

Ford focus car engine light coming on knocking


Go to Orielly auto parts and rent their OBD scanner. If you takethe vehicle to them they wont charge you for the scanner. The dealer will charge you $100 or more to check it for you. Depending on how loud the knock is I would not recomend driving the vehicle until you scan it. Once you scan it write down the codes and Oriellys can translate them for you also.

needs a vehicle speed sensor, its on the trans. if the engine was just put in( within like 2 or 3 days, not weeks) then it may have been busted in the engine swap. hope this helps and good luck

2000 ford explorer P0113 code, replaced the MAF, cracked vacuum


P0113 code indicates that the intake air temp sensor has Hi voltage. This sensor is located in the air intake near or in the air cleaner. It is a 2 wire sensor that looks like it does nothing. It measures air temp coming into engine and then the computer knows what kind of fuel mixture it should be delivering. This may be something to look at. The reason the check engine light comes on later is that the computer only self checks at certain times. Rate me if this helps
