Sounds like a relay. Usually when Multiple lights go out simultaneously, it's either a harness or a relay. If it were in fact a harness, you would have more problems then just lighting (found this out the hard way on my friends car). Anyways, pop out the lighting relay and look up a diagram describing how it works, and with a little multimeter know-how, you should be able to narrow your problem down by that.
Also, if you try to reverse what you did (unplug the trailer lights), that MIGHT work. Doesn't hurt to try. Good luck. And drive safe.

2000 Lexus LS400 Instrument panel fuse

It's more likely a fuse is blown, the tail lights are on the same fuse as the dash illumination, check the tail lights if they are not working replace the fuse marked 'tail' in the fuse panel on the inside at the left side of the dash under the cover. At the same time check the 'gauge' fuse', there is a fuse location diagram on the cover.

Have you probed the tail/brake lamp socket to see if power is there or you just assume it is? also make sure the ground is good for the brake lights Do that if not done already and let me know.

My brake lights did not work at all. I had a melted fuse. Fixed, and brake lights work. However, it created other problems. radio not working dome lights not working trunk light not working head...

Did you check to make sure no other fuses blew? I would also check your alternator and battery to make sure you dont have an over charging alternator causing fuses to blow.

You have a light bulb out. Have someone assist you in checking the lights as you turn them on. Parking, running, tail, head, reverse, and brake lights all need to be checked.

Fuse Box ( cover) diagram for a 95 Lexus LS 400 is missing.

check the wiring harness beside the hinge that moves when you close the trunk.i have seen the wiring get pinched and the ground gets broken. the tail lights have separate left and right side fuses.get a test light, and with the ignition in the on position, there should be power on both sides of all the fuses.the atc type have little test pins on them.ground the test light and put the tip on the fuse.if there is power, the light will come on. if a fuse does not light up the light on both sides,it is open.since the fuses are see thru,it is apparent if it is blown as the metal inside will be burnt.

Hi, plug in in the back does not work for a hook up on my trailor. all the tail lights on the truck do work. the trailor about half of them work. i do not have tail lights or backup lights and my left...

You probably have corrosion in the socket on your truck. You'll have to take the plug in apart and check it. Or, it could be loose, damaged or broken wires leading to the plug.
