Question about 2007 Hyundai Atos Prime

1 Answer

Only cylinder no 2 and 3 are firing. Numbers 1 and 4 are passing on raw petrol despite having new HT leads and spark plugs.

Cylinders number 1 and 4 not firing at all. Sending raw petrol in the exhaust line.

SOURCE: no spark in one cylinder

Hi,

Pls try to check/replace your distributor cap and/or the rotor. A friendly reminder, pls check that the spark plug gaps are within specifications, the wider the gap the the more arcing from the rotor to the bottom terminals of the distributor cap, the faster the burning/deterioration. If at all possible, try to replace with Bosch or Beck Arnley brands.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

the timing is 180 degrees out so ignore where no 1 lead should be and rewire the HT leads to the new position for no1 cylinder. The crank timing mark should be on 10 degrees advanced. Engines are timed off the crank position so forget the cam position.
Or you can start again. Remove no 1 plug and turn the engine over until you feel compression under your finger over the plug hole. Set the timing on the crank to 10 degrees before tdc. Position the distributor so that the point of the star is directly opposite the exciter coil in the distributor. The rotor button should now be facing no 1 cylinder plug lead adjust the HT leads so that they will fire in the 1342 firing order. Start the engine and with a timing light attached to no 1 plug lead adjust the timing mark to specifications by turning the body of the distributor.

Which on is cylinder 1

Cylinder number one is the cylinder closest to the pulleys, camshaft, crankshaft, alternator etc. Check your plugs first then the coil pack, coil packs have replaced HT leads on most petrol vehicles and need to be replaced in sets no matter what people tell you.

Daewoo tacuma Just changed my spark plugs and HT leads now enging runs rough and stalls on idle

CHECK YOU FIRING ORDER, YOU MIXED THE IGNITION WIRES, IF IT IS A 4 CYL, FIRST CYLINDER #1 IS NEAR THE BELTS, CHECK COIL WIRES FOR NUMBERS, OR DISTRIBUTOR CAP FOR CYLINDER NUMBER OR COIL PACK FOR CYL #, AND FOLLOW THE WIRES TO THE SPARK PLUGS. MAKE SURE THEY ARE RIGHT, NEXT TIME DO ONE PLUG AND ONE WIRE AT THE TIME.

Distributor cap and spark plug leads order/layout?

The firing order is 1342. The cylinders are numbered from left to right 1234. Depending on wether it is a 16 valve engine, the distributor cap lead number one position is at the front on the left, if its a normal 8 valve engine , the distributor cap lead number one is at the front pointing straight at the front. So, moving anti clockwise, the next lead will be number 3, then 4 , then 2.
