It may engage but does it freewheel and spin out to high rpm or just turn slowly.. it may be internally shorted.. does the motor turn over by hand with moderate force..

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump module in the gas tank, the filter is attached to the top of the module and is replaceable, cost for the filter unit is $45.00, bad news you will need to drop the fuel tank to get to it.

SOURCE: 2000 Dodge durango wont start or crank and starter

assuming your battery is charged, it is not the alternator. Could be interlock or ignition switch. See my tips at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5821173-doesnt_car_start_gasoline_engines

Have a 2000 dodge durango w/new batter, blower all lights work but battery wont take charge??????????????????????

If you have changed the battery, have it load tested to make sure it is not defective.
A tech can also check the voltage output and regulator. I am assuming you have already had these two check done as well as ECM error codes. The PCM, powertrain control module would be my next component to have checked. A dealership should have the software to check this. I believe that the OEM part runs around $8 to $900.00 dollars. You may be able to get an aftermarket replacement for around $200, but once installed electrical components are not returnable. Do not get stranded somewhere, have a dealship check this problem out!

Chrysler 300 2006 started and died 4 times and now won't do anything. Not even a click. Have battery power to everything else

Try boosting it. If it starts and keeps running with a boost, but dies soon after you remove the boost, the battery is bad.

You needed to do some testing before you replaced anything. I give guys and gals the same info, I don't know any other way. You could use a digital multimeter for testing full charge at the battery, you could also check charging system. If there is a wiring circuit problem with any of the parts you replaced, replacing the part won't fix it.

If your saying the starter motor won't crank, check the starter wiring. Any testing at the starter make sure tranny is in park or neutral and the parking brake is set. Usually at the starter, there are two voltage terminals, one is battery voltage, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with the key in the crank position. I can't rule out your ignition switch at the moment?

Some makes and models, if battery voltage is lost, it can effect your security system?

Why wont my vehicle start?

What's missing ? Fuel , spark . What condition is the battery in ? Fully charged 12.6 volts . When you turn the key to start does the starter spin the engine ? A crank no start or nothing happens when you turn the key to start . Videos on youtube ! Crank no start or no crank no start .

Starter clicking but want crank

Virtually every time this occurs the battery is not fully charged. A boost should get you going. But you should also investigate why this happened. Check battery terminals are clean and tight. Get the alternator checked fore output, it should be in the 14 - 14.5 volt range. Also get the battery "load tested" at the same time.
If a boost won't start it, the solenoid is likely bad and the starter and solenoid ( as a unit) will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

My 2005 durango want cran over

What happens when you attempt to start the engine? If nothing happens when you turn the key,you need to check the battery to determine its state of charge. Many starters won't do a thing unless there is at least 10 volts available from the battery. A low battery does not necessarily mean the battery is the problem, though. The battery may have been run down by prolonged cranking while trying to start the engine. Or, the battery's low state of charge may be the result of a charging system problem. Either way, the battery needs to be recharged and tested. If the battery is low, the next logical step might be to try starting the engine with another battery or a charger. If the engine cranks normally and roars to life, you can assume the problem was a dead battery, or a charging problem that allowed the battery to run down. If the battery accepts a charge and tests okay, checking the output of the charging system should help you identify any problems there.

Turned key on,lights on ignition go like its aflat battery but not, lights go on ok,told it could be starter motor, took starter motor out an use battery to test it while it was starter out of...

Easier to test in the car. Put starter back in the car. First, please try to jump start the car. If it will jump and start, starter is OK. If it will not jump start, go to the starter with a screwdriver. Use the screwdriver to short the big red-wire terminal to the small terminal on the solenoid. Be very careful not to short the big red-wire terminal to anything else, or you will get a big spark. If the battery, starter, and solenoid are good, the car will crank. If it does not crank, try again while jumping the battery to another car. If it cranks, the battery is low or the terminals need to be cleaned and tightened. If you have more questions, please reply.

Put key in ignition turn and get nothing no sound nothing when i try again it cranks and eventually turns over

You likely need a set of contacts in the starter, but you may also need brushes put in the starter, either way the starter needs to come off.Only do this after you have eliminated the battery by either having the battery tested or trying to start the truck with a boost. If it always starts with a boost, then get a battery and also get the charging system tested.
