I need to find out what type of tools i need to get my disc brakes off so i can replace them. i know how to change brakes. i just cant make the tools i used before. nothing fits. so i has to be some thing differnet, iv never changed brakes on a v.w jetta please help me. thanks

When I changed my sisters VW Jetta I used the follow:
Socket to fit the caliper bolts (can't remember size)
C-Clamp to push the piston back in
Bucket to set the caliper on while changing the pads
On the rear brakes I had to borrow the special tool to push in rear disc brakes from AutoZone, this tool spins the piston while pushing it back in. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for an honest rating and thanks for using FixYa!

For front brake pads replacement you need only usually wrench set, inclusive 7 mm allen key also. But for rear brake pads replacement you need obligatory a special caliper piston pressing tool, in order to press back rear caliper piston with parking brake automatic adjustment!!! For front brake pads. You should buy the brake pads (with wear sensor). For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow: 1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose! 2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper. 3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease). 4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier. 5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston. 6. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservor, and emptying if neccessary! 7. Push piston back into brake caliper housing. 8. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward). 9. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier. 10. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm. 11. Install both caps. 12. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!! Check brake fluid level and top up if neccessary!!!
Depends on how handy you are???, there are no tricks or special tools required, you will more than likely require the disc rotors to be replaced at the same time as these brakes tend to wear down as a pair, these also are easy to repalce as they are only held onto the stub with a couple of screws.
You will need a 7mm allen wrench to remove the caliper and the bolts come in from the back side once the two bolts are removed and you slide the caliper off you can use a c-clamp to push the cylinder back in to the caliper. Do not unhook any lines or loosen them and you will not need to bleed the brakes afterwards
im sorry bro i find that you needing special tools a load of bs. i may be wrong but i really really doubt it. brakes are easy. first locate the caliper and there should be 2 bolts holding that tight. loosen the top bolt and then take out the lower bolt from the caliper. the old pads should just fall out. remove the master cylinder cap. (the jug with brake fluid in it.) compress the piston replace the old pads and push the claiper back down on the rotor. tighten bolts back up pump the brakes till hard with the car off and then repeat for the other side.
There is a special tool you need to do this. It is virtually impossible to do without this tool. I got mine from Harbor Freight for $20. the kit comes in an small orange case and has multiple heads and it pushes and turns at the same time. Do not use a C-clamp, it will damage the piston. This tool still does use some manual labor, but it is worth it when you save a few hundred dollars doing it yourself!
