2003 chevy venture problems

I removed the factory deck from my 2003 chevy venture and installed an aftermarket deck with the proper wiring connectors with the suggested interface. But the radio can be turned on without the key in the ignition. I re-installed the factory deck and saw that it was the same thing. Will this drain the battery faster in cold weather or is their something else wrong?

also wondering if the stereos anti theft system could be causing the problem as when I open the door the factory stereo turns off, where as the aftermarket stereo turns on as soon as it's plugged into the system.

Yes the battery can be effected (drain) but in any kind of weather, unless you turn the radio off when you turn the engine off. The power wire in either application is connected directly to the battery as opposed to being connected to the ACC terminal which will be switched on and off with the ignition. You should connect the power wire (should be RED in color) from the radio plug to the terminal (marked "acc") on your fuse box located somewhere under your dash board. It sounds as though it's possible that the RED power wire and the YELLOW "Memory" wire have been switched, the power wire should be switched with the ignition and the Memory wire should be connected directly to a Battery terminal (marked as Batt also on the fuse box) or to the battery itself. All of these wires should be labeled with a small tab indicating there connection. Example Red wire marked (+ poss power), Black wire (- Neg Ground) Yellow wire (Memory) and usually 2 Green, 2Grey, 2 Blue, 2Purple as for the Speakers Poss. & Neg. respectively.

SOURCE: aftermarket radio installation without plugs

go to walmart and get your pig tail plugs. they will plug directly into your truck harness. all you have to do is splice the connectors to the radio.

I need a radio wiring diagram for a 2003 ford windstar

Which diagrams do you need?...if it is to install an aftermarket deck, get an adapter so u dont cut into the factory wiring harness..the adapter plugs into the factory plug and allows u to solder the aftermarket radio wires to the other side of it.I have attached a link to where u can get the adapters...unfortunatly this wont allow me to send u my radio schematics that are in PDF format.

Fuel pump wiring for aftermarket GM fuel pumps

When replacing fuel pumps in chevy or gmc trucks and suv's the aftermarket fuel pumps come with new plug and wire connectors. Which requires you to cut off the old pigtail and connect the new pigtail to the vehicles wiring, the reason the manufacturers of the new fuel pumps did this is to fix problems with the old style connector that was on the factory unit.

Do you have a trailer wiring connector? If you do check it for damage or corrosion. If it was recently installed check the wiring where it splices into the factory harness to make sure it was hooked up properly.

Removing audio deck from 2003 Chevy Astro

It is very easy: With parking brake applied, shift to 1st gear, then remove the dash panel that goes around the instrument cluster and the stereo. Once the panel is off, you there is a black tab on both of the side of the unit that you push down, and then pull the unit out.
To install an aftermarket deck, I recommend a specific wiring harness adaptor, that you splice onto the connector included with the new deck - so that you can reinstall the original one if/when you want to sell the vehicle. If you don't, you have to cut the original harness wires, and connect them in the correct orentation (which is tough, as there is about 20 wires!)

The dash panel installs in the same way: shift to 1, then push into place.

your installing an aftermarket cd player in place of factory radio?
it would be best to buy the harness adapters. they plug into the factory harness and will tell you what all the wires are. harness is usually only 10-15 dollars. here is the diagram also.7834529.gifa4b592f.gif
