I need rear wheel bearings replaced on my daewoo lanos. I'm living in Balcatta / Stirling Perth WA and looking for a trustworthy mechanic to do the job. Any recommendations ?

good luck as I cant find a listing for parts but on average about $150 a side if taken to a shop. this all depends on the labor rate in your area as well
Remove the wheel ,then track end ,brake caliper support ,the pinch bolt that holds housing to the strut ,lower track control arm swivel.pull off and place on bench .knock the centre hub piece out and on the inside of the housing is a big circlip that holds it in .Then take to a garage and have the old one pressed out and the new one pressed in.stripping shouldnt take more than 35mins ,visit to garage for the pressing?? allow 2 days --- refitting max half hour
If the sound is all the time, no matter what you are doing then it is the Transmission going bad. CV Joints, Wheel bearing will only make the noise when in rotation.. Also remember that this is a front wheel drive car, so it will throw you off thinking it is the wheel bearings or CV joints due to the front wheel drive
