Hi there. the abs is a very complex system and is not something that
can be done. on a diy basis. there is to much to it. sensors valves.
and electrics. you could spend weeks even months and get nowhere.
best solution is the professionals. hope this helps.

There is a possibility that the rotors are warped and need either turned or need new ones. If ABS is acting up it could effect the pedal movement too but usually more drastic movement. Only other way to know is have a good mechanic run the scanner checking brakes on the run.

SOURCE: 1994 ford aerostar abs light

That year Aerostar only came with rear abs. It uses a single sensor located on the top of the rear differential. Check that sensor for resistance and the connector for corrosion. If it checks out good make sure the wiring to the sensor is in tact. If that all checks out more than likely it's the RABS valve under the vehicle on the drivers side. I'm not even sure you can get that part anymore or would want to even fix it. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

My ABS light came on in my mercury sable what does that mean

When on, this means the anti lock brake system is not functioning. The brakes will work however in a panic stop situation the ab a system will not function and the car will not stop as quickly. A code scanner that can read abs codes is needed to determine what the failure is.

My ABS light came on, how long can I safely drive it before taking it in?

the ABS just prevents you from skidding, it does not affect the opperation of the brakes. So long as you dont slam on the breaks you will be fine, however it is always best to have all systems functioning properly.

the ABS light on my 2000 S-10 has been on for the last 15 months and I have never failed to stop.

My abs light stays on all the time but brakes appear to be functioning perfectly

Brakes do function normally when ABS has a malfunction -- ABS is only employed in a skid.

If ABS light is on, the system should be checked so you will have the protection afforded by an ABS when you need it.

The ABS light came on this morning, can u tell me what that is and if it is something major i need to take care of now?

ABS = Anti-lock Braking System. It means there's a malfunction of some sort. It could be the ABS pump, one of the ABS speed sensors located on the axles just behind the steering knuckles, etc. Your best bet it to head somewhere (garage, dealership, Advance Auto) that can read the code the ABS system is throwing. This way you'll know exactly what's wrong with it.
As for it being a big deal.. well the ABS system won't function when it detects an error. What this means is if you have to jam on your brakes, the tires are going to lock up and squeel to a stop. With the ABS functioning, the computer will pump/release the brakes so the wheels don't lock up, giving you more steering control in the stop

Replaced front brakes ABS light comes on and

Hi:
The ABS light on means an ABS malfunction. You should be able to have a auto parts store scan your car and find out what code is tripped, for free, but my guess is that one of your front wheel speed sensors is out of whack, or dirty or something.
When the light is on, your normal brakes work fine, but you have no ABS, so your car will take longer to stop in emergency situations.

Have a 2002 silverado and my abs and brake light stays on and the brakes are fine, why?

The warning lights are indicating a malfunction has been detected in either the sensing or actuation portion of the ABS system. Your base brakes will function normally but in the event of an ABS controlled stop on an "icy" or "slippery" stretch of road were the ABS system would take over to prevent a skid, that automatic system will not function.
Have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes to find out which portion of the system has malfunctioned.
Good luck,
Regards,
