SOURCE: where is speed sensor on 2005 ford taurus

the speed sensor is located on the case of the transmission, it is about the size of a jumbo magic marker with a 2 or 3 wire connector going to it, but based on the symptoms most likely the speedo is the problem, if the speed sensor was defective u would have a check engine light on and the transmission would be shifting erratically.

SOURCE: 95 Ford Taurus SE 3.0 Speedometer jumps 10

Your Taurus is cable driven, go between the firewall and engine and there will be a cable connector with spring clips holding the cable housings into it remove the clip holding the lower cable, slip them apart and try to pull the cable up, lubricate it and reinstall, twist the cable as it gets seated into the drive. The problem may go away after a few miles, if it don't- lube upper cable or do both at once if your comfortable with it. However the upper one may need to pull the dash, when you put the dash back in be very careful of the connectors! This worked for us on 2 different cars! Both 95's. Good luck.

99 ford Taurus won't go over 35-40 mph, however speedometer reads 120 mph from start. Tranny seems fine and no check lights whatsoever.

Scan the vehicle for fault codes first. Sounds like you need to check the vehicle speed sensor signal into the speedometer. If that is ok then send the speedo head out for repair.

How do I fix the speedometer on a 2002 Ford Taurus

What's wrong? If it's not working, the first thing I would check is the speed sensor - Hook up a scanner to the OBD2 connector under the dash, take it for a test drive, and see if you're getting the vehicle speed on the scanner.

If you're getting a reasonable vehicle speed indication, then you probably have either
A: a bad speedometer, or
B: a shorted/open connection between the speed sensor and speedometer.

If you don't have a scanner, see if a friend has one, or MAYBE a part store assistant will be willing to help you out.

1996 dodge ram 1500 5.9 2wheel drive automatic code reading multiple cylender misfire, also speed odometer reading 10 to 15mph slower than actual speed ie 55 is actually 80

I need to verify something about your vehicle. Are youan the original owner and did your speedometer suddenly start reading slower, and was reading normally before? Or did you just find out recently because you got a ticket or somebody clocked your speedometer by riding along side you? If you are not the original owner, I would check the tire height rating from the manufacturer versus the rating of the tire you have on the vehicle now. If the manufacturer installed a "G" series and you have a "H" series, for example, your speedometer will read slower than your actual speed as the "H" series is a taller tire. The higher the letter in the series, the taller the tire will be. (larger in diameter)
Regarding your random cylinder misfire, I would recommend replacing the spark plug wires. Also, the be sure to use the conveluet heat shields that surround the wires that are routed around the exhaust manifold. Be sure to route them correctly or the excessive heat will cause them to break down prematurely.
