Question about 1979 Lincoln Mark V
I have 79 lincoln continental NOT the Mark V. i have the haynes version for auto repair and i notice before i did it the spark plug wires werent on the correct plugs and usually on ford engine the number 1 spark plug is in the front but it was connected to number 3. so i followed the diagram for the firing orders and now the car wont start. it has new ignition coil, spark plugs, ignition control module and the wires are fairly new. Does anyone have a visual diagram i can download or a link or maybe the chilton version? its my everyday driver car. Thnx
Remove the dizzy cap, crank motor over to find out the rotation of the rotor. Remove the no.1 spark plug and bring no.1 piston up to top dead centre on compression stroke, mark side of dizzy body where the end of the rotor points to, replace dizzy cap and see which lead it lines up with.
that will be your no.1 lead, find the firing order and put the leads back on the dizzy cap in the direction of the rotors rotation, run those leads to the corresponding plugs and it should start.
