Question about 1999 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

I can't start the truck after the battery has been disconected because of security system.

The battery has been disconected. Now the security system prevent the truck from starting. There is a combination of puttting the ignition switch to the second position a couple of times maybe while holding the brake or door lock down at the same time. I have done this before, but can't remember the correct steps to get the truck running again. Can you help?

Turn the key on, leave the key on for 11 minutes. The security light will stop blinking. Turn the key off. Repeat this procedure 2 more times. Do this with a battery charger on it so the battery won't go dead. After the 3rd 11 minutes period, the truck will start.

2006 hhr chevy wont start

These cars have a tricky ANTITHEFT SECURITY system. When they recieve no voltage or low voltage, they consider this a threat and lock you from starting the vehicle. I'm sure it has probably reset by now, but here is a link to help if it happens again.

Security light on and truck won't start

I suggest check the "reset" procedure in the Owners Manual; this is armed when you disconected the battery or when dont sue the right key. Check ANTI-THEFT or PASSLOCK system section.

Dodge Owners Manual:

Good luck.

I disconected my battery to my 1995 Jeep Grand Cheokee to put in a new battery and now when I start it it will start then die. What's happening?

If you have a security system try locking and unlocking the drivers side door using the key. Most times that will re-set it.

92 buick park ave security light on car wont start

Someone put the wrong key (resistor value) in the ignition lock, you will have to disconect the battery for 3 min. Make sure you have the right key. Very important! Make sure the climate control is off before disconecting/conecting the battery.

Securitysystemwont letme start my can i disconect it ?

Im not as familiar with the security system on the Grand Prix as I am with other parts. I would first start with disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and see if that makes any difference. If it doesnt, there is an online Grand Prix community that you can visit at Just sign up and post up your problem there. There are many great and knowledgeable people on that forum and you should be able to find a solution there if disconnecting the battery does not work.
