No electrical power after replacing battery

Daughter's car would not start after school.  Had lights, radio, etc and heard one click when turning ignition key.  Battery a couple years old, so I changed with new one.  Now do not have any electrical power, totally dead.  Checked fuses and everything looks OK.  What did I do?  What can be done?

I've had similar problems with my cars, and everytime it was a bad ground or power wire, or corrosion on the terminals. Get a wire brush and clean both battery connecters..even a little corrosion can cause a no power situation. If you have a test light, connect the ground of the test light to the negative cable of the battery and touch light to the positive cable...if the test light doesn't light up, then you have a break or lose connection in your ground wire. Trace the battery ground to the engine block and clean that also...the smallest thing can interupt power...hope this helps..

Well, your initial problem sounds like a bad starter motor and now somehow there is another problem.
First, make sure the battery shows 12v with a volt meter. If its ok thenit may be that you accidentally hooked the battery up backwards...even for a second, it would have blown out a main fuse. Notice any sparks when you installed the battery? Or, did you try to jump it with another car and put the cables on wrong? If no too all this the check the smaller wires on the positive battery end to make sure none broke.
The main fuses are located in the relay/fuse box near the battery.
Hope this helps.

I have a 2004 kia sorento, just replaced the alternator and the camshaft position sensor. Now wont start but battery strong. What is my problem?

When you replaced these parts, did you disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery? Does the engine turn over but won't start, or does it not even turn over? When ou turn the ignition key to "Start", can you hear a click or an noise? Do you have electrical power to lights, horn, radio, etc.? Sorry for all the questions, but more information is needed. please.

96 Suburban has no power to the starter switch & other electrical problems

You may need a shop to look at it, or get a used shop manual from Ebay to get the necessary wiring diagrams. The problems could be related, such as the key switch or the main wiring harness.
You say the dome light fuse is draining the battery, is one of the interior lights staying on ?

My 2006 toyota solara wont start

If nothing (radio, lights, etc) is turning on when you try and start the car, then your battery is completely dead. Even if other electronic components are turning on, the battery still may be so weak that a jump start just won't do; it will have to be replaced.

Other possibilities include faulty components in the ignition system (ignition coil, distributor, etc). If something is wrong with this system, the car might not be able to transfer enough power to the spark plug to start the engine.

Bottom line: your car needs to be looked at by a professional. If you have AAA (and if you don't have it, get it), they will come and do a free battery test and can do an on-site replacement of the battery (if appropriate). Otherwise, they (or another company) can provide towing services to take your car to your preferred mechanic.

Check the start solenoid, starter side, when you turn the key... The battery side will always be hot, the starter side should be hot when you turn the key.
