Question about 1998 Nissan Sentra

1 Answer

I have a 1998 Nissan Sunny Prince sedan. Just recently it has started struggling on any kind of slope and the clutch seems to need to come nearly all the way out before car will move. Can't seem to get any pick up and car won't seem to go more than 40 to 50 kms with a struggle. Could this be a clutch problem. Is it possible something simple like spark plugs? Any help greatly appreciate. Thanks

The car doesn't want to move after letting the clutch out, more so on any kind of slope. Clutch has to be all the way out before it moves (at snail pace). Once it is on the flat it picks up a little speed but car engine seems to die and sounds like it has no pick up.It occasionally randomly starts running smooth for short bursts but always after driving on flat road and after it has warmed up. There has been a funny smell after driving but I thought it was mud from my driveway that had just been flooded. Thanks for any help.

Thanks so much TwinTurboZ for your help. Great to know what is wrong as I don't have much cash to pay for someone to look at it first then pay to get repaired. Your expert help greatly appreciated.

Does the engine bog down or does the clutch just act up. How many miles on it. Do you smell a funky smell after driving it?

It is a definate that your clutch is worn all the way out and needs to be replaced.

Check into local clutch replacement clutch shops for a good deal!

Hello if you fell your clutch is going out that is probably why fith gear is not working. Clutch can be fixed at your local mechanic if it is the clutch transmission would not need any attention as being replaced.

Burned smell coming inside the car(pathfinder 1998) while long journey.

Dear Sir,
As you said while driving burning smell comes, if it occur in this condition 1. at hill side road 2. you trying go up side on slope or 3. you are in traffic on slope. basically what happen due to over riding or you can say you are in 2nd or 3 rd gear and you moving towards up side you will press clutch half and press accelerator , that will cause clutch burning if having problem in pickup then get replace clutch kit assay,if you are not facing any problem with car pickup you can drive it till you feel problem in pickup. it will not stop suddenly it will give indication with pickup loss then go and replace it .till drive the car don't worry. Thanks

You don't need a clutch--probably just a slave cylinder. Check the clutch hydraulic reservoir--I bet it's empty. Should be near the brake reservoir on the firewall. Let me know if you would like instructions to do it yourself or if you have any other questions

1990 Nissan Truck will not start. Dummy lights, radio, and lights all come on strong. No clicking no tying to turn over. Checked all fuses, and connections all seem to be fine. Clutch is fine. cnegron

Check for a FUSIBLE links in the Battery wires near the Positive battery terminal. you can do this by feeling if they are broken. there should be 3 white colored wires about 4 inches long

A recent battery replacement might be a sign that the cables are not clean or tight after replacement if it was working fine before. The click is probably just a relay in the start/ignition system which is compleatly normal only you hear "it" now instead of the starter. check all the battery connections on each end and cables leading to the starter and make sure they are all secure and clean. -- LET US KNOW--
