Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I've read that this is common but I've changed out just about everything. When I'm driving down the highway or anywhere my Jeep just loses power out of no where with no warning. Most times I can shift in neutral and it will start back up and I can keep driving, but other times it takes atleast 5 mins to crank back up. Other times I can feel it coming because the idle will drop low when I'm coming to stops or slowing down. I've taken it to numerous shops and everone is to the point they are very puzzled. So far I've changed the throttle pully, ignition coil, put in a new distributor, crank shaft sensor, a few other things I can't think of. Something else is that my clock is resetting every time I turn off my Jeep. Supposedly my mechanic took out my PCM and tested it and it's suppose to be good. Also, things it is doing mechanics think it is the fuel pump but I'm never losing pressure when it stalls out.Any suggestions of what else I should do?
My 96 grand cherokee had the same problem with stalling minus the clock reseting part. what fixed mine was an idle air control motor it sits at the back of the throttle body on top of the motor. the part cost about 60 bucks and it hasn't stalled out on me since. i hope this helps you out.
