SOURCE: 1999 chevy blazer won't start

First of all make sure all your battery connections are Clean and Tight. If they are and all your dash lights come on and its not starting But its cranking over Your anti theft alarm may have gotten activated. You may have to leave your Key in the On position for 20 minutes to reset the alarm. Not cranking just in the on position, Now if its not Cranking and your hearing a clicking sound it may be your starter. I have sometimes tapped on the stater with a deadblow hammer and had someone crank it over Making sure your in park foot on brake and being EXTREMLY Carefull that you are not going to run someone over. If that don't get you going Get back to me we can do some more trouble shooting. Get that thing going for you. Thanks, Bear001

That one your going to have to goto the dealer for. I think the alarm you have is after market, so you will probably have to if them check it.

SOURCE: Code P1632

These cars had a tendency to "lose" the password for the theft deterrent system. Your body control module doesnt understand your key, therefore tells your pcm to discountinue fuel supply. To reprogram the system, start the engine and let it stall. Leave the key in the run position. The theft light should flash for 10 minutes. When the light stops flashing, Turn the ignition off for 10 seconds. Turn the ignition back to the run position. This procedure tells the BCM that on the next ignition cycle, to accept the new password. Now, it should start. If not, it may require the clearing of the code, and possibly the reprogramming of the PCM, which needs to be done with a dealer scan tool or equivilant.

2001 Cadillac debille security light stays on some times flashes but runs how do you find what resistanc the chip has with a meater and were you put it. to by pass

There is no resistance you can check , no place to by-pass anything . If the security light is on have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostice trouble codes . This will say what to check !

DTC B2734
DTC B2960
DTC B3031
DTC B3055
DTC P1630
DTC P1631

Autozone , napa , advance , pep boys , none of these can check for these codes , Dealer !

When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the theft deterrent control module. The theft deterrent control module then compares this value to a value stored in memory (learned key code). If the value is correct the theft deterrent control module sends the enable password via the serial data circuit to the powertrain control module (PCM).

You need to have a scan tool hooked up to read DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes ! These would be hard faults .
DTC 6 Theft Deterrent Relay Control Circuit Shorted
DTC B2734 Coded Key Controller Memory Failure
DTC B2960 Invalid Coded Key Present
DTC B3031 Key Decoder Device in Assem Learn Mode
DTC B3055 Key Not Present.
Do you have another key you can try .

Bought car at auction- no keys. Had key made at GM dealer. Programmed key- key works. Car wont start- Codes are P0633 and P1629. cannot clear codes

DTC P0633 : Theft Deterrent Key Not Programmed

When learning the pre-release password, as well as the challenge and response sequence, the engine control module (ECM) is placed in learn mode. DTC P0633 will set automatically as an indicator that the system is in learn mode and not as a fault indicator. Once the password and challenge/response are learned, learn mode will be exited when the engine is successfully started. At this point, the DTC will be cleared. If the ECM does not exit learn mode, P0633 will remain current and indicate a fault.
The "key" referenced in the DTC descriptor does not refer to the vehicle key. In this case, "key" is referring to the challenge response.
DTC P0633 requires a successful engine start to exit the learn procedure and clear the DTC. If an unrelated malfunction exists that causes engine starting to be disabled or otherwise unavailable, learn mode will not exit and DTC P0633 will remain current. In this situation, the cause of the inoperative engine starting must be corrected before diagnosing DTC P0633.
DTC P1629: Theft Deterrent Fuel Enable Signal Not Received
The theft deterrent module (TDM) sends the pre-release password to the engine control module (ECM) via the serial data circuit. The ECM then sends a challenge to the TDM. Both the ECM and TDM perform a calculation on this challenge. If the calculated response from the TDM equals the calculation performed by the ECM, the ECM will allow vehicle starting.
DTC P1629 is an indicator that the challenge response was not received within the required 2 second window. This does not necessarily indicate a fault is present with the TDM or ECM. Factors such as a long engine crank, a delay in the serial data communication, or B-codes set in the TDM will cause DTC P1629 to set. This DTC should not be used as a fault indicator, but rather as a symptom to assist in the diagnosis of these other systems.
Who checked the codes , you -dealer ? You need to have BCM checked for codes B - codes ! you need a up scale diagnostic scan tool for that , dealer Tech -2 !
DTC B3935 57 : Transponder Authentication Error
DTC B3976 46 : Unconfigured Transponder/Vehicle Configuration Not Programmed
DTC B3060 : Unprogrammed Transponder Identification Code Received
DTC B3055: No Transponder Modulation or No Transponder
DTC B3031: Security System Controller In Learn Mode

2007 gmc acadia - Why is there no power to the theft deterrent module / anti theft module located at ignition?

Brown wire is not for data , for ign. voltage . in run or acc. Red white wire gets it's B+ voltage from PWR MOD fuse 2 amp. I/P fuse box . Having the system check for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes is the first step in diagnosing a no start .

DTC B302A
DTC B3031
DTC B3055
DTC B3060
DTC B3935

DTC P1631

Diagnostic Starting Point - Immobilizer
Begin the system diagnosis with the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle. The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information:
• The identification of the control modules which command the system
• The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit
• The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status
The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.

There should be a dark green wire also ,at the theft module . This is for data communications , low speed GMLAN . Do you know what GMLAN is ? GM's version of C.A.N - controller area network . If your missing this wire , no wounder it won't start .

Why does my 2005 chevrolet classic theft system keep coming on and then the car won't start afterwards unless reset by turning the key to ACC for 10 minutes then the car starts?

If you have a spare set of keys try using the different key. The identity chip in your key may be shorting.

Otherwise the "Reader" in your ignition switch may be cutting out. This puts it into an activation loop.

Message: "service theft deterrent system"

The system is not recognizing the chip in the new key, or the key does not have a chip at all.
The new key would have to be cut at a dealer or some locksmith shops that have access to the codes.

My dad owns a 2003 CTS. While driving the car he gets the displayed message "starting disabled remove key" and the car shuts off. He puts the car in NEUTRAL and WITHOUT removing the key, starts the car...

STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY
Refer to Theft Systems Description and Operation in Theft Deterrent

STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY
The radio illuminates the STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY message when the VTD system has disabled the starting system. The radio receives a message from the theft deterrent control module via the serial data circuit requesting illumination.

Your best bet ,take it to Cadillac dealer and have it checked . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes

The theft deterrent module or the insturment cluster or the ECM is not seeing correct info.
The vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system functions are provided by the theft deterrent control module. When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition is switched ON, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the theft deterrent control module. The theft deterrent control module then compares this value to a value stored in memory, learned key code. If the value is correct the theft deterrent control module sends a random generated number to the transponder, this is called a challenge. Both the transponder and the theft deterrent control module perform a calculation on the challenge, if the calculations match the theft deterrent control module sends the fuel continue password via the serial data circuit to the Engine control module (ECM). If either the transponders unique value or the calculation to the challenge is incorrect the theft deterrent control module will send the fuel disable password to the ECM via the serial data circuit. The components of the VTD system are as follows:
• Theft deterrent control module
• Engine control module (ECM)
• Ignition key (Transponder)
• Ignition lock cylinder
• Security indicator

My 01 chevy malibu theft deterrent light is on and my car wont start or let me get my key out of the ignition what can i do?

turn the key to the "acc" position. you will notice the theft light flashing. leave the key in this position for exactly 10 minutes. the light should stop flashing. turn the key back to the off position and then start the car as you normally would. Works every time!
