Question about 1994 Jeep Cherokee Country

1 Answer

Does replacing the upper balljoints in a 94 jeep cherokee take a special tool? The man at the garage told me you can get them out and back in with a hammer and I know that some are pressed in and take a special tool, that is why I want to know.

1992 Jeep Cherokee needs needs new ball joints and shock arm. Is this something a "back yard" mechanic can do?

It can be done, with patience, by hand is much harder if not using pnuematic tools, the ball joint removal tool set has a c clamp that accepts a wrench or impact gun, a reciever to keep the old and new joints centered during removal and installation. Depending on the set up, you may also have to replace wheel bearings and seals, as the hub will have to be removed (some cases). If you are not too experienced, leave it to a pro, as the pressure and tools involved are dangerous.

sounds like it time to have the front end balljoints inspected. Only with an inspection will you get the proper results. Why guess, this is a safety issue.

Upper &lower balljoint replacement i need adiagram

I dont know what diagram you need. There is only one upper and lower on each side. Special tools are needed to replace the ball joints. Be sure to have everything you will need before you attempt to replace them. Be sure to get the front end aligned also .

Replacing a '98 Grand Cherokees ball joints

The only parts you need are the ball joints, upper and lower, a total of 4, if you need all 4. As far as tools, you'll need wrenches, a removal and installer tool, the ball joints are pressed into the control arms, and a ball joint to steering knuckle seperator tool.Without those special tools, you will never get them changed, if you do it yourself.

Jeep won't start

Check voltage at coil. Check coil output (spark should be healthy even at 1/4" away from ground). If OK, then change module The only testing on module is with a special tool. Therefore if contacts are clean, that's all you can do with it!

Check engine came on took to garage for diagnotic check

Why not have 1 more scan done by a Chrysler/Jeep dealer. Sounds to me like the garage is lost on this one. Get a quote on diagnosis scan, doesn't mean you have to commit to repairs right away. I've seen more than one mechanic who had a scan tool, but didn't know what to do next when it comes to diagnosis.

Balljoints upper &lower

STOP.you will not be able to complete this repair.when changing balljoints on a s/d ford you need a special tool to install the new hub seals on the axles and then install axle with this tool as well.if the hub seals are damaged the hubs will not hold vaccuum and the auto 4x4 will not work.
