El falcon front wheels shuddering under braking , pads ok

Replace the rotors or you may be able to have them turned. Chek your local repair shops, parts stores, or machine shops for this service. Once you replace or have them turned it is vitally important to torque the lug nuts to the proper speck. Improperly torqued lug nuts are the most common cause for warped rotors.

2001 SL-1 disc brakes in front, drum brakes in back. When I apply the brakes it feels like my wheels are wobbling or out of round if that makes sense. The brakes have 26,000 miles on them.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you have the hub nut tightened. If it's loosen, it may shake even not braking. Very dangerous so please have it checked and tightened.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

07 camry brakes clatters when brakes apply, Can you help with the fix??

If you are saying the brakes chatter or there is a vibration when applying the brakes your rotors are warped. Remove the pads, have the rotors turned at a machine shop, and replace the pads with new ones, even if they look good. Warped rotors are caused by excessive braking at high speed, riding the brake pedal, or not correctly torquing the lug nuts to the correct lb/ft when installing the tire/wheel. Your owner's manual will list the correct torque which will be around 80 lb/ft. Make sure anyone removing a wheel use a torque wrench and torque them correctly.

When applying brakes at moderate speeds front brakes shudder

Rotors are warped and need to be turned down or replaced. Make sure when the wheels are put back on, that they are torqued down to the specifications for that jeep. I have a 92 cherokee and torque them to 100 ft. lbs. On disc brakes, the lug nuts on the wheels have to be torqued down or the rotors will keep warping, a lot of people don't know this.

2005 chevy impala front rotors keep warping

A couple of possible causes:1. what brand are you replacing them with? There is a lot of cheap garbage for replacement parts available. You might want to shop around to make sure you are getting quality parts. Original equipment should be superior (GM parts), but unfortunately expensive. Of course, when you consider the aggravation, time, and money you have spent already, it would probably be well worth the higher cost. 2. I have heard of problems with warped rotors, due to over tightening lug nuts. Make sure whoever is working on the car puts the wheels back on by hand, not with an air gun, and that they tighten in a staggered pattern, that is, put the 1st lug on so it is finger tight, continue w/ a lug nut across from, it and on until they are all on finger tight, then tighten a bit at a time, until they are tightened evenly to the manufacturers recommended torque. Apparently, putting a nut on and pounding the heck on it w/ an air gun (which is probably set to high) will warp the drum.

Warped jeep rotors

Three items that can cause that are seized caliper slide pins, frozen (partially) caliper piston or an internally failing brake hose (rubber one from body to caliper) Problem with any of these will keep caliper partially applied and will overheat and warp the rotor. Also, I recommend torquing wheel lugs when assembling...use star pattern.

Steering wheel moves back and forth when i brake 2004 ion

Sounds like your rotors are warped. First off, have the front wheels been off the car at any time recently? If so, someone may have reinstalled them and not torqued the lugs properly. Too much torque (or different torque on different lug nuts) can artifically warp the rotors. Also, hot rotors getting wet can warp (as if you slammed the brakes on or were braking severely on the way to the car wash, where you sprayed them down). Or, they could be just worn out. Chances are though that you'll need new rotors. Remember that when you change rotors, no matter how new the pads on your car may be, you need to put new brake pads on with them.
