2013 Dodge Avenger Air Bag light problem

I took the car to a Dodge dealer service center, they reset it, It came back a few weeks later, I think they just reset it instead of looking for the root cause. My real question is whether or not the air bag in inoperative when this light is on.Please do not answer this with a guess, only if you are a qualified technician, thanks in advance.

The most common cause of this is the rotating contact is broken under the steering wheel, this flexible contact connects the airbag to the airbag control module

there is no other long as the light is on there is a chance the airbag will either not work in an accident or it may deploy without warning. how many miles do you have on the vehicle??? there is a chance if you contact chrysler customer relations they may assist in the repairs.

SOURCE: 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan Air Bag Light comes on intermintently.

ok the most common guess would be the rotating flat ribbon contact under the steering wheel that provides a moving connection to the airbag from the steering column wiring. the part is called a clock-spring contact, it is coiled up and winds and un winds as needed when u turn the wheel, they are a very common problem in all airbag equipped cars, no matter the make or model, they all use a similar part.

The service air bag is on. What does this mean?

I had the same problem years ago with my Dodge Dynasty. The airbag light came on for no apparent reason. I took it to the dealer and they said they fixed it. Two days later the light came back on again so I went back to the dealer and they told me there was nothing wrong with the airbag and didn't know why the light was on. A few years later I gave the car to my grandson and he took it out to the desert and drove it over a huge dirt hill (not very smart) and when the car came down over the hill the airbag came out uninflated. I drove around all that time with a useless airbag based on what the dealer told me. I would suggest taking it back to the repair shop and let them check it out. If they can't find out what is wrong I would definitely get a new airbag. I know they can be expensive but your life is worth a lot more.
Good luck.

P0340 Problem Code for 03 Jeep Liberty

code p0340 refers to cam shaft position sensora bank 1-circuit malfunction===causes --wiring Cam sensor---ECM. The only connection is the ECM to both units so they may have unpluged the ECM to service the air bag problem. IT could be as simple as using a code reader to reset the CPU. I may also be a coincedence and there may be a fault in the cam position sensor.. I would discuss the matter with the dealer service department to determine what is what.

We have a 2008 dodge avenger. This time we were driving and the car lost power. The battery is not dead and it is not the alternater according to the service center we had it towed to. When you turn the...

Locate your spare key / 2nd key and try to start the car.

There is a transponder chip in the key and a reader inside the key lock area.

When the signal does not match then the security will lock down the car.

You should use your 2nd key and clean the key pathway before starting the car.

A professinal locksmith will able to re-program you ECU.

When the light is on all the time there is a problem in the air bag system. This is something you will want to take to a service center soon, as long as the light is on the air bags will not deploy in an accident.
