Misfire on cylinder 5 on 2000 chevy venture

So you went to a repair shop that can't find
& resolve a misfire problem ?

Still could be a head gasket or crack somewhere
or other problems.

You need to confirm that it really is cylinder #5 every
time you get a misfire

If you get a flashing MIL Lamp vs: a steady on lamp, you
better stop using it,as that indicated a misfire bad enough
to damage the exhaust converter.

Check the exhaust gases to see if that guides you
in some direction.

Could be valve train as well

My car is having the same problem, and I've heard it's a defective stop lamp switch, which there is a recall on, and the dealer will fix for free. The recall ID# 09V122000 number to call listed with recall info #1-800-633-5151 http://www.automotive.com/hyundai/sonata/2006/recalls/t3-12-2-1/

Unless there is something wrong with you buttons the procedure is as follows:
1. Turn ignition key to ON (not start)
2. Press ENG MET button on trip monitor & release, then press it again within 5 seconds.
3. Within 5 seconds again press and hold GAUGES button until Change Oil lamp flashes.
4. Continue Holding Gauges button until lamp stops flashing & goes out.
5. You should be done, start & shut off car. If it didn't work turn off car and start from top.
