Question about 1991 Chevrolet Lumina

Got fuel pressure but no spark

My car died at an intersection, pushed it off the road and towed it home. I have fuel pressure but I've got no spark. I replaced the fuel pump 2 months ago but I got some bad gas too about 6 weeks ago. It has ran rough ever since losing power intermittently, choking up, and not accellerating when the gas is being pushed. AS I PUMPED OR FEATHERED THE PEDAL IT ALWAYS CAME OUT OF IT. NOW ENGINE CRANKS OVER BUT WON'T FIRE IT ON UP. ANY ADVICE OR HELP? i'M STUCK.... THANKS

Sounds like the plugs have fouled due to the bad gas, replace the spark plugs

Before died it sputtered and backfired, gave it throttle it died. Towed to my house and turned it over many times, then it started. I pushed pedal to give it gas and it died.

What's missing ? Spark or fuel ? Just because you replaced the fuel pump and filter does not mean it's getting fuel . Did you check fuel pressure , the electrical circuit ? Did you hook up a spark tester to see if there is spark ? Watch this video from Eric the car guy . No Start Diagnostic Basics EricTheCarGuy Do you know what a fuel pump relay is ? Car stalled out and died. Cranks, but wont start all of the sudden.

On an incline that you stopped on, dont under estimate that if your low on fuel it may not be picked up by the fuel pump, or your fuel pump may have went out. If you run low on fuel often or up & down hill on low fuel will cause your fuel pump to burn out premature, they even say not to run less than a qrtr tank to be safe, but todays cost in fuel usually people wait till the last minute (gallon) which puts a strain on the fuel pump as the gas cools the motor and incline and decline in roads will mimic a low tank. What doesnt make sence is you sprayed starting fluid which should have fired for a few seconds, which brings you to spark issues, check you coil pack plugs and wires, most likely coil pack over plug and wires should still fire even if a plug or wire goes bad, but the coil pack controls the power going to the wire then plugs.

No engine light on? Sounds to me like the bumpy road may be knocking something loose. It would help to know if you have fuel pressure when the problem arises.

Truck stalls when on rough roads

The truck is probably stalling on rough roads because the fuel pump float is not staying on the surface of the gasoline in the tank. Therefore, it is taking on air and interrupting the flow of fuel temporarily. It may be sticking a little and operating too slowly.
The fuel pump is inside your gas tank but can be removed and replaced by you if you are skilled enough.

I have a 2000 ford windstar that I bought last monday, it died last tuesday. go figure. I was driving down the road and it just died with no warning at all just stopped. I had it towed then the next day go...

You have O2 Sensor Codes

I believe you have a bad fuel pump,
thus low pressure and the O2 Sensors,
set a lean fault code

Check fuel pressure at the rail when you turn
the key to start or it is running

Changing spark plugs is something that
never has to be done to find out what issues
you have.
You could throw away a couple and it should start

Also NO Parts EVER get Changed until
TESTED and found to be bad

I would check to see if it has spark when it does this next time. Then if it don't I would start by changing the pickup coil. If not that then i would try the crank sensor. hope this helps good luck

Car turns over great getting fuel and spark but wont start

Spark without fuel = just spark. :) Are you getting fuel movement? You could have a bad/clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump - could be a few things. Check to make sure you're getting fuel.
