(1994 gmc sierra) while applying the gas, the gas pedal will "push itself" all the way to the floor and we have to put it it in neutral and tap the gas pedal. any Idea why it is doing this?? very dangerous!!!
First question, does your truck have cruise control? If so, find the cable that goes from the cruise module to the throttle body, and disconnect the cable and see if that solves your problem. Next thing is inspect the throttle cable, from the gas pedal through the firewall to the throttle body, and look for any kinks, anything contacting the cable or linkage.

I found the problem. Talking with a technician from the controller company, we determined that it was a fuse problem. I found that the fuse to the CHMSL was blown.

Typically the Neutral Safety Switches are located with the gear selector, either in the column or the floor.
Hope this helps,

look for a serious exhaust or intake leak. look for bad wires to the o2 sensor or map sensor. just for starters.
