Question about 2002 Jaguar S-Type
I am currently replacing the heater control valvd due to ac problems..the car about every 4-6 months dies and goes into limp mode next day runs fine until next time. Engine light goes off and then out of blue it has a fit. I am hoping temp control module is ok..took apart no burn on board..Help...Thanks!!
Try clean the throttle body at the butterfly .or take it off and clean it. as dirt on both the sensors on your throttle .so clean the throttle with throttle cleaner.

Just a quick mention - for about a month my XK8 low coolant light came on intermittently. This week with no notice while driving normally I got Stability Control Fail and FailSafe Engine Mode and wtih great difficulty got the car back to where I started from (less than a mile). Two days later (when got time) and after a bit of research, I tried it again - same problem and a very unhappy engine. I then disconnected the battery for 15 minutes (probably more) to clear the engine codes as well as check all the wiring and vacuum stuff I could under the hood (at a Jaguar master mechanic's recommendation). No problems found but the car would start and immediately stall with the air intake hose disconnected from the intake butterfly. After I reconnected the air intake hose, she started and purred like normal. The problem is the BATTERY... It is low - I've known it for a LONG time BUT it always started right up and never skipped a beat. I intend to replace it tonight but fully expect that's the issue. I've had the car 6 years (it's a 98) and had NO problems except a dead taillight asembly.
Hope this is of value...

Sorry late reply - just seen this problem. The amber warning is basically saying a problem developing. The red and limp home action is showing more serious developement - But not always very bad news. Had car with same symptoms and it was a faulty sensor on engine, and another similar case was throtle position sensor. Get the car to a garage that can read the faults - so you know what the problem is that has been registered in the memory.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: I just purchased a 2000
probably fuel filter same thing on mine, cost you a couple of pounds its where people run the tank too low drags up all the **** from the bottom failing that disconnect the air inlet hose to the idle unit and spray injector cleaner into the unit clean the butterfly valve and you will notice the difference imediately have the engine running while you do it you may have to do this every couple of thousand miles but it will run smooth and better fuel consumption you will have to get obd meter to erase engine warning light i got cheap one on ebay well worth it,hope tis helps
