Try to check the ect sensor( engine coolant temperature sensor) i think its in high circuit or its have lost connection

2000 acura tl coolant fan after fluid change


New thermostat, installed, saw, new coolant made a little mess filling reservoir, (normal) checked fan fuse for some reason, and condenser fan fuse (xxx ?:), and temp guage, is slightly lower on gauge (than normal?) (disconnected xxxx? quit? a bit? to get to thermosta?.t no dash warning lights have a feeling I popped a relay.

over heating? parked, (fan never comes on)? as it hits 225F?

under heating? ( fan stuck on , up North can cause huge cold engine)

dash gauge stuck low. (thermostat wrong heat range 180f is best. see FSM for spec. on this temp. spec..

Dash guage varies.? oddly (air in system)?

Dash gauge too high.? (Stat put in upside-down or bleed hole (jiggle) not UP side. higher side of mount , trapping air.)

Does something wrong happen only driving?

leaks?

does cap on rad hold 12-14psi pressure, hot.?

if car has fan belts, are they tight? (for sure water pump does)

I have a 502 big block chevy motor in a 1963 nova with a aftermarket northern aluminum radiator & 195 degree thermostat. On a 90 to 100 degree day the motor slowly heats (20 minutes of running or more) up...


A thermostat should only allow flow after reaching its desired temp, 195, however, if this is just idling and you have a brand new aluminum 4 core radiator then it may really not be reaching temp and reading low because of no load and a great radiator. I assume top of the intake manifold is where your temp sender is? Did you use a laser infra red temp reader and point it at the block in several spots? You may see175, 185, etc all over the side of the eng. The neck of the thermostat housing should be the closest to 195 but the lower hose might read 140 / 150. Alum radiators work awesome so when that thermostat does open it's a rush of cooler coolant. What is it doing when you drive steadily @ 40 - 50 mph? If the gauge reads say 140 and just fluctuates slightly from that then I would say yes, replace the thermostat. If your gauge shows it now reaching temperature then it's just that your radiator is doing a helluva job when it idles. BTW, electric fans? On a switch or temp sender? Or mechanical fan always pulling air even at idle?

Will not heat up put a new thermostat in it is a 195 is there one higher to put in I drove 70 miles and the onlyhthing I got was warm airiI it is a 1994 jeep grand Cherokee


Well the recommended temp is 195 degrees which is the hottest you can get. Anything over 160 degrees will give you heat inside the truck.
You would need to know if the radiator is full of coolant, the heater hoses are getting hot, and the blend doors under the dash are working.

Wrong thermostat ? You need a 195 Did you replace the coolant sensor ? This runs the fans Run the engine, wait until the engine heats up, if the fans do not turn on when the temp reaches 195, you have a blown coolant sensor, defective relay, or bad thermostat

Themostat was only letting my truck warm up to about 150 degrees. I installed a new 195 thermostat and now I have no heat but the engine temp is 195. What is the problem?


The thermostat is fine but you may have an air pocket in the block or the crud in the block
made its way into the heater core. Also check to see if you have working a/c as the blend
door in the dash may be stuck in one position. My S-10 produced no heat due to the
overflow line falling off the resorvior tank behind the battery creating an air pocket in
the block.

My 1996 Nissan pickup temp gauge does not heat up. Reads cold all the time and the heater does not blow hot just warm. Any suggestions?


Must be cold out! if you never get any heat on gauge check engine open hood and see how hot engine is getting you will know if engine is at operating temp (170-195 degrees). if yes is there a thermostat? if there is one it could be stuck open even then you should still have at least a little heat. change thermostat last resort a little cardboard in front of radiator will get you by in a fix. Exercise caution with cardboard watch gauge don't want to over heat engine...

My cavalier 2003 is running hot (195 degrees). The fan only comes on if you turn on the A/C. It sometimes makes a popping noise in the dash.


FIRST 195 IS NOT OVERHEATING THE THERMOSTAT DOESNT OPEN UNTIL 195 AND THE COOLING FAN DOESNT COME ON UNTIL 220 BUT YES IT COMES ON WITH THE A/C THE NOISE IN THE DASH MAY BE LOW ON COOLANT OR AIR IN THE SYSTEM

What is hte proper temp on a 2008 cobalt?


Ususally the thermostat opens at 195 to 200 degrees. Coolant and pressure allow normal temps to go to 230 to 240, and much higher under heat soak condition (unit turned off). Fans kick in near that temp. So, the engine needs to be that hot to be efficient and to have emission controls shift to normal... Also the high temprature prolongs engine life by forcing moisture from the oil.

What temperature should the thermostat run? Just added antifreeze and its running at about 220, that seems a little hot?


YOUR VECHICLE CALL FOR 195 DEGREE THERMOSTAT.THERMOSTAT SHOULD OPEN AT 188 TO 195 DEGREES.CHECK COOLANT FAN CLUTCH THE FAN SHOULD HAVE RESISTANCE WHEN TURN BY HAND WHEN HOT.IF NOT FAN FREE WHEELING ALL THE TIME THAT WOULD CAUSE ENGINE TO RUN HOT.
