Question about 2002 Chevrolet Impala
...same problem. Catalytic (?) converter is plugged. ...car will likely start and run, but will seem to be underpowered - especially under accelleration. Check Engine light may come on, but not stay on - which may post a "mis-fire" code, or a transmission shift cellenoid code, or maybe no codes at all.
Cat. converter is warrented for 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first. Take the car to a dealer.

I had that problem. It is a bad catalytic converter. If your car has less than 80000 miles it will be covered by your dealer.
