If I understand correctly your question, do you mean valve seals? According to my knowledge, it is a major operation, pulling out the cylinder head and changing them all together. Another way is to fill the cylinder with pressurized air trough the ignition plug hole, in order not to drop the valves into the cylinder and change them one by one. Both of the procedures require quite advanced mechanical skills and should be done by an experienced mechanic familiar with Jaguars.
Regards, Jukka.

Fuel failure not getting fuel

Jaguar has an inertial sensing fuel pump cut off relay. It is supposed to be behind one of the panels next to your feet, in the front seat. It has a rod that sticks out, that has to be depressed back in. But sometimes there is also a complex procedure you have to do with the ignition switch as well. The dealer will give you the details for free if you call them.

Can anyone tell me what the cost to repair A/C vacuumed down and re-charged for a 1996 Jaguar XJ6, or can do it myself?

i will do it for 30€ no you cant do it yourself it requires a special machine----also it holds 1.47kg of R134 gas .why is it leaking perhaps the the seals need changing because r 134 gas attacks the seals which should be a putty coloured .if their black then these are only for r 12 gas .94 was the change over period from the gas types r 134 has a big radiator and r 12 has a small one in the top right hand corner

Exhaust smoke - 1994 XJ6 4.0

you have bad valve seals again and it is possible that the valve guides are bad ( to much play ) i worked for Jaguar 13 years and i have done 100's of these and very few needed guides it sound like the seals where not done correctly at the last repair.

Smoke from the exhaust when starting

I would think this is valve stem seals that are letting a little bit of oil down on top of the piston and when you go to start the car you get a bit of oil smoke when you start the car
