Question about Nissan Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Nissan Murano and I have the 3 button intelligent key fob with an additional button from Avital for auto start. I cannot find instructions anywhere on the process for using the autostart. I press the button once and it tries to start but will not start.

I guess that is the case. The problem is that I don't know if I followed the proper procedure in activating the system or not to know whether I have a system problem. Do you know if there is anything more than just pushing the button once?

SOURCE: Hi I want to program a new keyless fob. I have

1. Close and lock all doors with the driver’s side power lock/unlock switch.

2. Insert key into ignition and remove it from the ignition key cylinder at least six times within 10 seconds. Your Hazard
Lamps will flash if you have performed this step successfully. NOTE: Withdraw key completely from ignition cylinder
each time. If this procedure is performed too fast, system will not enter programming mode.

3. Insert key into the ignition cylinder and turn to the ACC position.

4. Within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the remote transmitter. Your Hazard Lamps should flash. NOTE: Do not press
the button more than one time in the above step. If the button is pressed more than one time, the programming
procedure will not be successful.

5. If there are any remaining transmitters (including the old ones), unlock then lock all doors using the driver’s side
power lock/unlock switch and within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the next remote. Your Hazard Lamps should
flash. Repeat this step for each transmitter (including any existing transmitters).

6. Turn the key to the OFF position, remove keys from the ignition, unlock doors using the driver’s side power lock/unlock switch and open the driver side door.

SOURCE: toyota avalon 2006 key fob apparently doesn't work

It looks like you have the "Smart Key" (a small rectangular box) that does not look like a traditional key.
What you also have is a dead battery inside the Smart Key.
Look closely at the box; there is a little button on the side. Press it. This will release a small hidden key. After you remove the small key, use a small flat blade screwdriver to pry the case of the box open at the slot provided. Take the unit to a store that sells miniature batteries, and have it replaced. You will NOT have to reprogram it after the battery is changed. The life span of the miniature batteries is roughly 20 months, less if exposed to RFI, like sitting on a TV, a monitor, or other electrical device. The Smart key TRANSMITS all of the time, even when you do not press the buttons. This is why the battery only lasts 18-20 months. Let me know if this fixes your issue..

How to unlock a 2006 Nissan Murano when there's no power

The Nissan Murano now uses an "intelligent key system" for entry. Essentially, there are two methods to unlock the vehicle doors, and both methods require the factory-programmed key fob. You can press a button on the remote or press a switch on the door handle. The vehicle discussed here is a 2010 model, but the process is similar for other Nissan Muranos as well. Consult your year-specific owner's manual for exact procedures for your car Also More Info Would Be good !!!

Set 1 2 switches? please clarify

See pg. 3-31 in owners manual. Start car in park. Adjust seat, telescoping wheel, and side view mirrors. Pust Mem button and then within 5 sec. push either 1 or 2. That button should light to show memory stored.
From the 2012 Guide (See link)
l"AUTOMATIC DRIVE POSITIONER (if so equipped) Two positions for the driver's seat, steering column and outside mirrors can be stored in the automatic drive positioner memory. Follow these procedures to set the memory positions: • Confirm the shift lever is in the P (PARK) position. • Push the ignition switch to the ON position. • Adjust the driver's seat, steering column and outside mirrors to the desired positions using the adjusting switches for each feature. • Push the SET switch and within 5 seconds, push the memory switch (1 or 2) for at least 1 second. • The indicator light on the memory switch you select will illuminate for approximately 5 seconds. • The driver's seat, steering column and outside mirror positions are now set to your preference. These memorized positions can also be linked to your NISSAN Intelligent Key®. For more information, refer to the "Pre-driving checks and adjustments (section 3)" of your Owner's Manual." https://owners.nissanusa.com/content/techpub/ManualsAndGuides/Murano/2012/2012-Murano-quick-reference-guide.pdf

Why doesn't my 2013 Nissan Sentra recognize the FOB? Says FOB "not detected" when its in my hand. Is this a dead battery in the FOB? how do I get this fixed?

Does the key fob open the and close the door? If it does the battery is fine.

This seems to be a known problem. Move the fob closer to the Start Button.

My Intelligent Key Port is broken. What do I do? It will not charge my Intelligent Key.

The port doesn't charge it, it is only there for if your battery dies and then you can still start the car, you need to replace the battery in the fobs if they are low.

Need to wire trailer lights to 2006 Nissan Murano

Go to an auto parts store, they wire harnesses that will plug into most vehicles. If they make one for your Nissan, I don't know, but it's a real simple deal you just plug it in to existing harness in the rear of the vehicle.

The key fob is the remote. But the remote type that works like a key. The remotes that you just need to carry on you to start the car or truck. That is a Key Fob.

Driver door won't lock with key fob

Check the locking solenoid / actuator in the door behind the panel, could be burned out or loose wire. It should take about 20-30 minutes to open, fix it and close the door panel if there's no major problem. Autozone might be able to help out with a solenoid.
