Reserve is drive nuetrule is drive and all the gears are drive

From the shifter to the transmission there is a cable that sometimes needs adjusting or could be broken. It may seem to be shifting at the shifter but may not be changing gears at the tranny. Get a manual (25 bucks at autozone). It tells ya how to adjust or replace it. It is relatively easy.

Tow/haul not working on gmc yukon 2001

The wires are probably broken. They follow the shifter down into the steering column. After many years of shifting the wires break. You can find the wires inside the rubber piece that surrounds the gear shifter. They're orange. You can splice them and put them back in.

Shifter won't shift gears

Have someone look @ linkage on trans. while someone moves shift lever thru the gears. If lever @ trans doesn't move then its in the linkage between the column and trans. (possible clip or pin broken @ linkage jounts). If lever @ trans moves then its a trans. internal prob.

When placed in park gear is very hard to move to R, D etc. 1997 Yukon

my recamendation is to remove the molding around the gear shifter. look and see if there is any reaon why its tough to move. Also get some lithium lube and spray it around. Move the shifter around and see if there is anything jamming it up. Also, when was the last time you changed the fluid and filter in your transmission. I would recamend using a high end synthetic like royal purple. Maintenance is the key to every problem.

Let me know how this works.
