Question about Honda Civic
Car sat for about a yr. it was rough getting to start but when it did it ran good for about 30 sec. Then acted like it ran out of gas
Bad idea , sitting cars sitting with E10 fuel, is car in USA? with our
no year stated, or engine size, many engines, 1973 to now. sure.
ever tune the engine up this decade? in last 60k miles. oops....?
you only need 3 things, after good fuel.
1: compression above 150PSI (most engines, tell year,)
2: good spark, on all cylinders and timed right.
3: good fueling. ( soaking wet spark plugs (fuel) is called flooding.
is it flooding, say so and we work that angle.
just 3 things to make it run, mostly.
in most cases (i always have exceptions)
if #1 is good, and #2 is good, the engine can now burn fuel.
and not flooding.. we...
so we try test fuel, (in a spray can, i like CRC fuel safe starting fluid)
does that test pass/?
yes, then your EFI system is not injecting.
here is a man Chris, running an engine with a dry fuel tank
all cars do this , otto cycle engine (gasoline)
see scotty yet.
scotty has the best video
here is the list .
on old engines, i do this.....
1: the tuneup and fresh engine oil , i do the 60k list in the operators guide.
if the engine has solid lifters, i set lash , so that when it does start
i dont burn the valves to a crisp.
as you can see , not starting can be a blessing,
(lash or DOHC interference engines, most hondas are.)
This engine, i do leak down tests. to make sure the valves are not bent, then a full compression test, if really really smart? put in a
new timing belt, so the engine dont grenade, the first week you got it running. it's an interference engine, something to respect and understand, if the car has any value to you at all.
its not a free running engine. not at all. (99.9%)

Do you have gas pressure at the fuel line going into the injector? If not, do you have gas pressure at the fuel filter at the gas filter by the passenger real wheel? If not, do you hear the fuel pump kicking on when you turn the key? If you don't have high pressure (spray) at the rear filter, but you hear the pump, then you need to drop the tank and change the filter sock at the pump, which is a pain ;-( If you don't hear the pump, then check the relay controlling that.
