Engine mangement light stays on

When the CEL light is turned on by the on board computer system it means a fault has occurred in the system it monitors and or controls. You must have the fault code read with a special tool called a scanner to see what fault has occurred and then do the diagnostics to repair it.

. Airbag light stays on

A common problem across the whole range of cars. They could be a genuine fault, a faulty sensor or a wiring problem. Best thing to do is get the fault diagnosed with a reader to determine the actual fault or faults. Ask around as a friend of a friend may have one or contact a local mechanic.
Often the airbag light is just a bad wire under the seat as the seat is moved back and forth whilst adjusting it. Wiggle the wires and see if the fault can be reset with the OBD reader mentioned earlier.

Why check engine light on

The engine computer has seen a fault in its engine management controls, or a fault in another system that it monitors (anti-lock brakes, powertrain, or emissions). If the light stays on, the fault is still present. The only way to find what is going on is to have the computer scanned for Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Autozone and other chains will check for codes for free, as long as the vehicle is a 1996 or newer model-then it will have an OBD-II compliant diagnostic connector. All '96 or newer vehicles sold in the US are required to have On Board Diagnostics with a common plug-in for scanners. Get the trouble code or codes and go from there.

Common problems with check engine light on 2004 toyota tacoma

When you get any dash light that stays on after the engine starts,
you should be checking for codes that day, to find out what system
has a failure or fault, forget what's common & get the codes & diagnose them

There should not be any vehicles with a check engine light on & that vehicle being used a week later. Within a week all repairs need to be done, or you chance ruining the vehicle

My 2204 jaguar s-type v6 with 115,000 miles has the amber engine fault icon on. The car is driving normal. What is causing the light to stay on all of asudden?

you may find this light comes on and then suddenly goes off again, This is caused by a monitoring alarm in the OBD II system that is sensing a fault as it carries out its constant series of checks on the engines performance during a set driving cycle. If the fault is not detected on the next driving cycle the light will go out. The most common reason for this particular fault is the MAF (mass air flow sensor) this can sometimes read out of range (due to dirt or sudden changes in air condition) Get the codes read as this fault will be logged in pending codes if the fault has disappeared or as a current fault if still displayed. Don't panic - just get the codes read !
hope this helps - good luck.

Check engine light was on. Connected scan tool, got data below and cleared faults. drove car 5 miles, check engine stayed off. p0300 random multiple misfire detected p0325 knock sensor 1 circuit...

If the check engine light stayed off then that means that those errors are not present at this time. It is not un common to have intermittent faults but I would not preced any further until the light comes back on. Then re-scan the code see which are to begin diagnostics.

Check engin light stays on. Starts fine runs

Most common cause of engine lights is either an air fault such as air flow meter or air mass sensor. there are others but if the car is driving fine then most likely an air fault.

Check the air sensor sometimes they just need a clean up rather than replacement.
Let me know if you need more info.
