Have an accredited ac mechanic look at it as it may have a problem with excessive gas . If not then the compressor will have to be replaced as it will be failing inside.

SOURCE: How do I add coolant to the air conditioning

You need to locate the low port on the AC.

You recharge the AC connecting to the low port.

You find the AC low pressure at the top of the compressor. Near the compressor you find two ports, the high port and low port.
You can follow the compressor line to reach the port.

To find out which one is the low port, run the air conditioner for a couple of minutes withthe engine on.
Then turn off the care and touch the lines from compressor to the two ports , often covered with plastic caps. Only one of the pipes will be cold, the line that is cold will lead you to the low port.

You describe a typical 'cooling fan' problem. When moving through the air, the AC operates normally, but when stopped in traffic, it doesn't... correct?

Extreme heat occurs in Hyundai Elantra 2007 Elantra engine compartment when air conditioner is turned on.

The AC puts an additional load on the engine and then the AC condenser has to shed its heat as well, so the result is higher engine bay temps. In short normal operation.

Air conditioning isn't as cold

You will need to have the AC pressures read to see if the charge is low. DO NOT just add refrigerant unless the pressure's indicate it is the problem, you can destroy the AC compressor very quickly. (1st hand knowledge)

Engine stalling while air condition is open

It sounds to me that you have 1 of 2 problems

1. A dirty throttle body some carb cleaner should fix it

2. You have a bad air compressor

I have elantra 2003 auto. the problem is when drive for long time the engine become junk especialy when i used air-cond and time the check light dispear. Some time it become problem to move when i stop at...

Sounds like you have two issues. Your car is running a bit sluggish and the ac compressor running compounds the problem You may want to start with a tune up. Plugs and wires for sure. See if that adds some horsepower back to your vehicle. Have you compressor checked. If your compressor is really faulty and hampering the the serpentine belt from functioning properly the sensors could be sensing your car just about ready to stall and even though your car may not stall the check engine light may come on for just a couple seconds and then go back off. Let me know if this helps.

I just had this problem on a 2001 elantra. I took it in for repair: the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure/ intake air temp) sensor was shot. $150 later it works just fine.

When the car is cold the air works for 10 min. then there is warm air. the compresser is ok but it stops after 10 min.

check the cooling fan might not be working and building to much pressure in the ac causing it to cut off

Elantra 2001, A/C compressor clutch engages and disengages every 2 sec. When i first start the engine I got cool air then, after the engine is hot, the problem starts and bye bye cool air!

The a/c clutch engages then disengages intermittently with the Hyundai's a/c system when there is little or no refrigerant in the system.

Have your a/c refrigerant (R134 or R12) checked and refilled, and have the system inspected for leaks.

Hope this helps.

Hyundai Elantra 2001 auto. Stalling, cutting out, hicupping on occasions. Worse (or more likely to happen)with Air con on, or car/ambient temperature is hot. Any solution, Matthew103

This may not be the fix. But my 2001 has 150,000 and I have had several times the same issue. Plugs and plug wires fixed each time. Do not buy cheap plug wires. Your better off with paying a little more for a good set.

Air Conditioning Not Cold!

Get someone to re-gas it with a dye and see if it's leaking. Check the compressor.
