How to replace timing chain on 2001 dodge intrepid 2.7

It's a BIG job. It requires removing everything from the top of the engine (intake manifold, throttle body, all plumbing, valve covers) then removing the harmonic damper, most of the accessories, and then the timing cover. That's just to get to the timing chain. You have to remove the chain guides and tensioner, then cam gears and crank gear. If you're going this route, also replace the two chains (intake cam to exhaust cam) on top of the heads, the water pump, and the tensioners. Be very precise in reinstalling the three timing chains so that everything is in time.
The link shows the details of the chain itself, but be aware that your engine is packed into your Intrepid with limited work space in some areas.

Can I replace my chain tensioneer with out removing valve cover 2.7 intrepid 2001

You also have to remove everything in the front of the engine. Valve cover is just the first thing to come off. You need a manual.

2001 dodge intrepid replaced timing chain and engine idles smooth but engine won't rev past 2500 rpms then it sounds like it has a rev limiter change cam sensor but no change it is giving a p0016 code

Most likely cause, if the code only came back after replacing the chain, is a timing problem. Either the marks were not properly aligned, or a tensioner could have failed.

How to fix a timing chain tensioner 2001 dodge intrepid 2.7

Hi. The tensioner is on the left side of engine. You can remove it without removing any other parts of the car or engine. You need a 10mm socket to remove the 2 bolts. The plate can now come offand tensioner may pop out or you can push on it a little as there is a spring in the tensioner and it should be easy to remove. Once removed DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START ENGINE! with the tensioner removed you can now replace with a new one or possibly re-purge old one. You will need the little purge tool anytime you mess with this part. -jack pollock.

2.7 engine? Valves are bent. These engines are famous for timing chain problems, replace all of the chain, guides tensioner and water pump if its apart.
